Kermie is giving me sleepy vibes too. That's a beautiful pic of the two of you
Do you need them?
If someone made sure you were well-fed, clean, wrapped in a nice warm sleeping bag and tucked into a cozy basket, would you need extra sleepy vibes at all? I don't think I would!DS2 was like that. Fed and changed, not too hot, not too cold, nothing wrong but could cry all evening for no reason. Even when held he would try to be grumpy. There were times when he tried our patience too much and he was left to it.:o (by left to it, I mean put safely in his pram in a different room, not left on the street corner.)
I didn't think you meant "left in the nearest park".
I've found it harder when OH and Isaac are away. Non-screaming company is rather nice.3.5 hours max at a time. I think that was the sole reason I couldn't face having a 3rd. The sleeplessness was just so draining.
If Isaac ever gets into the dark ages period of history 900 ad -ish, Thanet is a good place to visit. I was having a read about Queen Bertha and King Ethelbert last year and the fort that they built into the cliff (where our 2 holiday places are) and it's a part of history I have never been taught (or if I was, I can't recall any of it). King Arthur legends came from that time and I read all those books when I was about 10 I think.
Dad is going to take him to Thanet when we go to Kent to stay for a few days in September, for precisely those reasons! It's a lovely place anyway, I think....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Spirit and NDG. I know I haven't arranged anything for tomorrow and wonderful though it would be to see Spirit I think it would make much more sense for her to visit Kermie than me for a rushed coffee....I think....0

Cliff Richard!!!!
OMG! !!!!!!!
You are surprised by the allegations, or just by how long they have taken to surface?
I have no idea whether the allegations are true, but in the present climate it seems rather too easy for people to make these allegations that are quite difficult to refute and very shaming. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
My dilemma is he is charging half the going rate, I told him he was reasonable and booked him, but wondering if I should say that he should be charging more.
There's a fair/reasonable price ... and there's taking the p155... maybe you're just used to mixing in a world where people take the p155 and others just pay whatever number's invented.0 -
Not a deadline in 2 months time for the whole thing though. What I suspect is needed is to break this big task up into small, manageable tasks, each with a deadline. It also needs a rather helpful supervisor available to deal with any difficulties, eg references that can't be found.
Well, yes, that would be helpful. But I think she's up for using the 2+ month deadline to motivate herself to organise her own shorter term deadlines for bits of it.
I used to be able to do that, a long time ago. I can still do it for work, just not at home. Any housework/domestic things really need a deadline of no longer than a few hours to get me moving at all ATM.Hm... Hello guys:D Hope everything's well.
Am OK.
My dad is happier today; normally he'd be stressing about a-level results and going back to school:D But he doesn't have to. Because he's retired.:T
Think it's going to be strange for him in September...
Nice to see you tomterm. :hello:
Wish your dad a very happy retirement from me.lostinrates wrote: »Indeed.
I am calling OFF work plans.
Sill up for a ladies lunch in September. Lydia's and spirits day off is now the same I think. And I have house to myself for a fortnight, though September might be horrific for Lydia....settling into routine ( mid to late I think? )
NDG? Too far? Off peak trains aren't as plentyful to here, but I'm very near a station.
We will reconvene after the deadline date for nikkster gardening and marmite toast eating here. Plenty to be done then.
First week in Sept is out for me - can't guarantee the inquest will be over by then. After that is fine. I have a cast iron rule about not doing school work on my day off, so whatever's going on at school won't affect my Thursdays. (My solicitor also has kids about the same age as mine and works part time, and her day off is Thursday too. She calls it "sanity Thursday", which appeals to me.)
Would love to meet Spirit and NDG.
(Would of course also love to see Nikkster again, but not at the expense of her thesis-writing time.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

we had heavy rain here today. It started with rain so heavy it was bouncing off the pavements like Tigger. It was proper tropical rain, never seen anything like it in this country before. Then finished with bad flooding. Today is a good day to live on top of a hill around these parts.
We had that this afternoon.
Then this evening we went to see James Blunt, in a field:eek::eek: half way between the farm shop and the GP surgery.
Tomorrow I am going to London , OH is working at home. He will be mostly cleaning muddy wellies and folding chairs.
He also has the chimney sweep coming.0 -

It might arrive tomorrow/Saturday ... awaiting a "short notice" call depending on weather etc to collect it.
So ... any NPs who are good at colours .... pick me a paint colour for my table, chairs, shed.
Theme: The Beach. No reds. Faded colours rather than bold blocks.
The summerhouse was a reddy brown. It is now (externally country cream (it was that, or natural stone). Both are essentially sand colours. The inside has white bits, but is forget me not blue. The veranda floor will also be the blue.

My intention is to pick a colour (there are only about 10 in the whole world) .... paint it on ... and that's it.
I won't be touching it (for texture) ... and, to be honest, I couldn't even pick my own front door colour from a chart if it was the £1million question
I was just on the Johnstone site, provided by fc, found myself in a "colours" place where you get lots of little squares - click one and it goes much bigger.... problem I was finding was that, having found one that "looks OK" and closing the bigger window, they don't give you a clue which square you clicked on .... they look so different a bit bigger.0 -

Doozergirl wrote: »My question the other night. It's very bad.
Given that it's this bad now, you have to wonder how it can get worse. Then you realise...I have found someone -facebook recommendation, so friend of a friend of a friend -who power washes drives during the evenings as a second job. He came round tonight to quote. Don't know what he does during the day, but he is doing this to earn some extra £££. Looks about 30, married with 2 kids , I'm impressed that he is prepared to go out every evening to earn money on top of his day job. My dilemma is he is charging half the going rate, I told him he was reasonable and booked him, but wondering if I should say that he should be charging more.neverdespairgirl wrote: »
You do realise that the whole NP crowd will now pitch in to make sure your back is to the wall, shoulder to the wheel, and nose to the grindstone?
We could make tea, chatter in the background, admire her sterling efforts in the garden, then sternly disapprove every time she moves away from her desk!:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
