Haven't had a chance to say this as yet as have been doing brief stops to play catch up. But it's great to see fc and wheezy back after trying times.

Fc, both the house you are selling and the forever house are both gorgeous. Isn't Cliftonville the posh bit of Margate? A firm I used to work for had a facility in Margate so I used to go there regularly. I seem to remember that part being lovely.
It's just on the edge of it. 'The Avenues' has a faded grandeur about it but some very smart super boomer residences in them. What I like is that the area developed in the 20's and 30' when people bought a plot and then commissioned their house. Very similar to Rodean where we lived before but on a larger scale

It was a street we wandered down the 1st time when we did a viewing in Brothel St which runs parallel to it. That street is the last street of the HMO zone. Brothel St no longer has any brothels or dodgy bars in basements in it as the council shut them all down a year or 2 ago and compulsorily purchased a lot of the larger ex hotels. It is right by The Walpole Bay hotel which was on Hotel Inspector a couple of years back.

I recall wandering down it and it seemed like there was Perspex wall between the 2 streets as the difference was astounding....very strange. Couple have owned the house as a family home for 27 years but it's too much for them now.
Actually, I will be getting a shabby (few years old/been stored outside) garden table/chairs that will need a good rubbing down (maybe I should look for a cheap hobby quality electric sander) .... and I need to pick a colour to paint it (and the shed) . It might arrive tomorrow/Saturday ... awaiting a "short notice" call depending on weather etc to collect it.

So ... any NPs who are good at colours .... pick me a paint colour for my table, chairs, shed.

    :)

Theme: The Beach. No reds. Faded colours rather than bold blocks.
I like Doozers pale sage green a lot. Dix Blue by Farrow and Ball is lovely too, denser/darker. The linky thing doesn't work for me any more? Link to long to insert here.

we have been told that this company Johnstone Leyland Paints supply F+B their colours but are a lot cheaper. Don't know if it's true or not.

Another car in addition to the Audi A1 has made it onto my radar. It's the Mazda 2. Has anyone got one, had one or know anybody who has one and is willing to give me their opinion?

I have had Mazda's in the past and found them well made, reliable and hold their value.

I thought the mazda 2 looked cute, but didn't want green. I think when I was looking they didn't make a proper automatic.

We're thinking of having her PTS before winter. She's ok. But she's not the kind of dog we want to get to be not ok.

While recovering last year she was very unpleasant to every one. :(.
awww, poor big dog. How do you decide when to do it? Pain?

I have found someone -facebook recommendation, so friend of a friend of a friend -who power washes drives during the evenings as a second job. He came round tonight to quote. Don't know what he does during the day, but he is doing this to earn some extra £££. Looks about 30, married with 2 kids , I'm impressed that he is prepared to go out every evening to earn money on top of his day job. My dilemma is he is charging half the going rate, I told him he was reasonable and booked him, but wondering if I should say that he should be charging more.

..well..... it's going to be CIH so he doesn't have to pay any tax etc out of it. If he does a great job and you think he should get a bit more you could add a bit more as a 'tip' ?

Not ready for that yet :o

It's also like having people around. I got my first draft done last year taking my annual leave to sit in the office typing. Was much easier to work in a room with people - I've spend too many hours sitting staring at it on my own.

    ' ?

Yes. When her pain is such that if I am late with a dose she is notably uncomfortable then we'll do it. Pain is worse in winter, so .....rather she didn't suffer.

( choice is made differently for different people......you have to...think about who they are and the rest of the groups needs and how that interplays. Dog dog will hang on till the end I think, kiwi.....he's a wimp, unless that changes I see him as an early opt out kinda guy :()

Funny you should ask. I've had an email this afternoon (cue my vision going slightly funny and me breaking out in a cold sweat).

Final version to supervisor - Oct 31st
    Submit - Dec 31st :eek::eek:
    Or that's it. :eek::eek::eek:

Either way, I shouldn't be spending next summer with this hanging over me :j

What did your supervisor say about your previous draft?

You do realise that the whole NP crowd will now pitch in to make sure your back is to the wall, shoulder to the wheel, and nose to the grindstone?
Sill up for a ladies lunch in September. Lydia's and spirits day off is now the same I think. And I have house to myself for a fortnight, though September might be horrific for Lydia....settling into routine ( mid to late I think? )

NDG? Too far? Off peak trains aren't as plentyful to here, but I'm very near a station.

In theory, love to - depends when, and if I'm in court, and so forth. I'm taking both boys to Kent for hte first week of September.

Hm... Hello guys:D Hope everything's well.

    Am OK.

My dad is happier today; normally he'd be stressing about a-level results and going back to school:D But he doesn't have to. Because he's retired.:T

Think it's going to be strange for him in September...

What he's going to do with himself in retirement, does he have plans?
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

IN my local paper it's a photo of two girl twins with identical grades one going to oxbrigde the other into dentistry!:D

Sorry to be on topic - but imagine the debt they will run up between them. A poisoned chalice in some ways- I wish people who have done that well could get the education they deserve and not come out the other side saddled with debt - not necessarily free, but it was manageable at £1,500 a year. Have been talking to our interns and grads this evening - they are doing better than most and it still isn't a pretty picture...

If I left school into today's environment, I'm not sure I would want to go to uni unless I had financial backing.

A decent first draft. He sent back the documents annotated with comments/ suggestions.

Yes, I do. And I appreciate it (even if it might not always sound like that ;)). I could easily have not mentioned it...

It's good debt, remember ;) You don't pay back unless you earn, even then at manageable levels. :sigh:

I've never met a poor dentist.

Thanks silver, that's helpful. The Mazda meets my criteria of having a bigger engine than all those 1ltr superminis. Hopefully it isn't rwd.

This post could have read so differently. In the mind of my tablet, 1ltr should be limited, superminis should be suspensions and rwd should be red. The irony is that all of those could have been logical when talking about cars.
