Was change 3 during the recession? I am just imagining the meeting between the civil service wonks of the marketing and accountancy teams respectively.. "We need a new name, something snappy, that sums up what we do" "Well if you change Appeal to Asylum we only have to change one set of letters on our building, and we can reuse the big brass initials". It beggars belief really.

It's just mad. All the signs change every time, inside and out
, and then the notepaper, etc. All of it!
Yes, more than one envelope as it was different exam bodies... also O Levels and CSEs. Some subjects were not available in O level, so there was stuff that could only be a CSE (e.g. Typewriting, Office Practice) ....

I did A levels with more than one exam body. Can't remember which was which, but my A level history special subject ("The Mid-Tudor Crisis, 1540 - 1560") was scheduled on the same morning as "Physical Geography II". So those of us doing both history and geography for A level had to spend the time between the end of the first paper and the start of the second having a packed lunch under guard in the middle of the playing fields.

Cute baby...are you getting more than 2 hours sleep in a row? Chewy needs warning what it's really like ;)

IME it's Mrs Chewy who needs the warning. Chewy'll probably be fine.....

(I think this is a pretty normal experience. And OH is rubbish at breastfeeding).

Kermie has one stretch of about 3.5 hours, that's hte longest at the moment, though.

It's lovely to hear from you, FC. So glad your Mum's OK <hugs>

I find the problem is the school hasn't tired the darling monsters out so they are full of beans late into the evening where as I am just as post day at work shattered as usual....

Isaac gets more tired, because he gets a lot more exercise, I think. There are a nice group of boys who spend time at our nearest park, a minute's walk away, and they wear each other out playing football, chase, and water fights, and Isaac gets exhausted by it. Which is great!

What you could do is just run the blind along beneath it (so you lose the peak when they are shut....but you wouldn't see as you will be watching telly).

Other solution would be to move the telly or not watch telly when it's sunny ;)

Hmm I could just have a cheapo roller blind that pulls across horizontally actually. That would work, I hadn't thought of that!

In the kind of school where I teach, questions are asked if the students don't perform as expected. I don't know what happens if you have a lot of students with disasters. So far I've only had a few results that have provoked questions and I've been able to give reasons - eg this student hasn't done any work for ages and I've mentioned her in advance when we've been asked for names for the "students of concern" list in department meetings. Actually, the questions aren't just about keeping the teacher on their toes; they're also about identifying anomalous results that the school might want to apply for remarks for.

I think everywhere's like that now.
I haven't taught any courses with results due tomorrow, but on years when I have it's a worrying time.

No rainbows seen here CK. But I did see that Vienna was confirmed as host city for Eurovision 2015 a few days back.

Yes. I don't start on the main team until September, but that has been confirmed already. I thought that would be the case anyway :)

    Getting excited for Junior now!

Haven't had a chance to say this as yet as have been doing brief stops to play catch up. But it's great to see fc and wheezy back after trying times.

Fc, both the house you are selling and the forever house are both gorgeous. Isn't Cliftonville the posh bit of Margate? A firm I used to work for had a facility in Margate so I used to go there regularly. I seem to remember that part being lovely. And good luck to your DH on becoming a super boomer.

We applied for remarks in 5 papers, just because he was near the border line and needed to go up a grade. All 5 papers came back with a different mark!. 2 down and 3 up, resulting in one grade increase. (So we had a refund of the remark costs of the 3 papers in that subject.) I found it horrifying that all the marks changed.

My niece, aged 19, has been working for one of the exam boards this Summer. For the first 2 weeks she was just checking that the marks added up correctly on each paper; then she was promoted to marking maths papers! Not a question of right or wrong, but for wrong final answers points are awarded for reaching stages of the workings correctly. I was horrified, she dropped maths after gcse, so had little understanding of the answer sheets.

I am planning a binge-watch of Breaking Bad. This is only allowed when thesis v2.0 is complete :(

Anyway, if you want to come over to see him PM as he's just down the road and you can inspect his work and have a cuppa! :)

This pic gives a bit of the idea - there's a run of cupboards to the left too, you can just see the end of them. And a set of pan drawers too. This was when work wasn't finished, never did get round to the full set of "after" photos! :o

That's a lovely looking kitchen. Maggie - I may take you up on that.

I really prefer working away from the house.

Even without small fry, I never work from home, I'd rather drive the 30 miles into work and do an hour there, I just don't like mixing home with work.
Dog dog is also a terrible fibber. If the others are sitting closer to me she thinks she hears someone at the door, so barks, so they get up and bark, so she hops on the sofa. Similarly, if she is out of the kitchen and wants to come in when I am there, she will bark at the gate ...so I go out to see who is there, and she will nip in...

She's plain intelligent, that's what she is!

And moving on from the kitchen dither, I spotted this house up for sale, literally two roads away from me. Definitely priced to sell and basically good to go by the looks of it.

    http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/34049057

I've had a ponder and I could get a loan for it ( well apparently I could get a loan for a lot more, but even putting 25% down, is scary enough). I would just have to decorate the cold kitchen then.

And last time I rented a couple of houses out, I said I wouldn't do it again. But this is round the corner and I'm older and wiser. Rent would cover just at interest rate of 5%. Should be reasonably busy on the rental as the bridge building gets going, which is a three year project.

Hmmm, it's at times like this, I miss having Mr Bugs about to mull things over with.
