So true.
We have had Ben for four and a half years. He has had one rehoming so we are very careful about when we go away so that he feels "secure".Usually DD is here if we are away, but if we are all away he spends days at home, but at night stays with his doggy girlfriend and her groomer/dog walker mum who lives at the end of our road. It is the best we can do if we are away..he is not any happier if someone else stays here. He likes his own people.
It is very tough as he goes into melt down when Mr Spirit is away..demonstrated by a prolonged ecstatic reunion when Mr S returns home. It is pitiful.
We are in London for night in early Sept..the only blot on the landscape is how the dog will feel.0 -

There's truth in that. The reality of her life is that DW does not like dogs, so there was no chance of Doglet coming with us. Besides, she hates car journeys. DS3 is fond of her and looks after her, but he's out tonight. She's not used to DS4 or DD, but they are perfectly nice to her. She's quite resilient - I hope!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
...still 5 pages to go....fc - as everyone has said, so lovely to 'see' you again. Good vibes being sent to your mum, hope she continues to exceed expectations.
Your house looks AMAZING.
Hope you (all) manage to take some time out v soon - sounds like everyone in the fc family has had a hectic and stressful few months x
The interior bits and bobs weren't expensive at all.....the opposite really and, as we are quite 'possesion-lite'' it was designed so everything had a home and could be put away....so we didn't need to buy any furniture.
The textile bits I made myself and the sofa was recovered in lavender crushed velvet and lavender distressed faux leather
Things like my books are still @ the studio as OH wouldn't let me spend £500 on a Mikado bookshelf as we are moving....and I might get to have a 'Book Room' all to myself in the new placeI am not at work today, as I will be in London for work on Friday.
We pay by DD, £187pm.I may ask them to send me some of the balance back..or not...as they pay 4% interest.
We also pay £61 electric pm . I think we might not be very MSE with fuel:( We might need a fuel diet.
...after making our house all eco and putting in a load of expensive insulation everywhere (all ground floor+ in new walls) we won't get to enjoy the lower bills. I recommend the Mega Flo tank system thing as that is saving a fortune on hot water. Will def have that installed in the dream house.
Bills in new house will be horrendous but I don't think it's the type of place that you can wander about in a t short during winter as the galleried hallway would cost fortune to heat. The hallway fireplace connects to the heating system somehow so winters will be spend running from one room to another dressed in 3 layers of fleece onesie I think. What lemonjelly said.
ETA: [/rant] Sorry if that was a bit strong.
not at all.....I think it explains it very well.0 -
Nah, not impressed. When she can operate the poo bags herself, then I'll be impressed!
Tmi perhaps, but when we were away a couple of weeks ago, I saw a lady who quickly opened an M&S carrier bag and put it under her dog as it squatted. I was mightily impressed. Twozerdog might not mind this sort of thing but Doozerdog doesn't like to be watched or waited for and will move on mid poop if he feels pressured. He has a guilty look about him.
Don't look at this if you're eating dinner:

If any NPs are looking for something "cheap" to have a go. £150k.
OH does dream of doing that one day.
Current home was a good learning curve though.
The Planners wouldn't let us change the front in any way ' in order to protect the 1960's architectural integrity of the street' and the back wasn't planned to be so 'in your face' ....the white paint made her seem bigger. Our ground floor footprint didn't change that much.Very clever, but nobody else got it. The amount of confusion this caused, just by putting the 2 on its own, when people were expecting three digits at that point in the number. And then BT introduced 0181, and then the house burnt down. So, not a great success.I just ignore the newspapers. I'm interested in the results of the young people I actually know, and of course especially the results that I'll be held responsible for if they're not what they ought to be.0 -
In all but name, it seems!
I seem to remember seeing a tee shirt that said
"YOLO. Because some people are too stupid to know what Carpe Diem means."
:rotfl:
I will confess to really liking OFGS....I just discovered it recently and now say it in my head all the time.
...and to update, we have an offer and ours was accepted so the real stress now starts I guess.
.....dam, wanted to read the Super Boomer thread but bit late now.
OH wants to be a Super Boomer0 -

My "stress dreams" in general tend to involve exams - but one in Spanish, or involving a completely different period of history frm the one I'd studied, that kind of thing.
Cute baby...are you getting more than 2 hours sleep in a row? Chewy needs warning what it's really likelostinrates wrote: »Bugs, may be freestanding looking might appeal more?
Not 'not kitcheny' but not just square cabinets?
This is my kitchen ( ages ago) the cooker is on back wall, as is the butchers block now. There is a chest of drawers back to back with the alter, and another chest think under that window where ther butchers block is in this picture. Its a temp kitchen. No sink, for example. It bothers doozer boy and the architect bit not me, I like it a lot. I could live like this for decades. I would like the floor though. Concrete is super hard to clean.
Love the alter ..I am going to nick that idea .;)...can't wait to get stuck into a period house.
Love miss match kitchens too esp non matching worktops.0 -

I'm not sure that would really work - it looks very complicated to get blinds up there.
What you could do is just run the blind along beneath it (so you lose the peak when they are shut....but you wouldn't see as you will be watching telly).
Other solution would be to move the telly or not watch telly when it's sunny0 -
Realised this afternoon that rather than being as far away as it sounds, the end of Aug is almost here, and I need to have more than one outfit to wear that week.
I also need to seriously tidy and clean the house before next Friday as I have a house guest.
All of the above applies to me too.neverdespairgirl wrote: »My "stress dreams" in general tend to involve exams - but one in Spanish, or involving a completely different period of history frm the one I'd studied, that kind of thing.
In mine I usually had some major problem - couldn't find exam room, or in the wrong town, or had no pen, or similar. Why would you be responsible for a poor result...surely that's down to the student and how they perform on the day?
In the kind of school where I teach, questions are asked if the students don't perform as expected. I don't know what happens if you have a lot of students with disasters. So far I've only had a few results that have provoked questions and I've been able to give reasons - eg this student hasn't done any work for ages and I've mentioned her in advance when we've been asked for names for the "students of concern" list in department meetings. Actually, the questions aren't just about keeping the teacher on their toes; they're also about identifying anomalous results that the school might want to apply for remarks for.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
