This house is two minutes up the road from me, read and weep people in Herts. No there isn't a 0 missing in the price. You can't actually see the front of the house from the road, I have lusted before, but it's out of my price range.

That's a very, very nice house.

Wow. £400k buys you a small 1 bed flat round here, or a 3 bed if it's tiny, ex LA tower block, and you can't get a mortgage so cash only:

Unless you LOVE cooking - and really WANT to do it .... we'd all be happy bringing our own sweaty cheese sandwiches in a tupperware box :)

I'd like to cook :) not a feast, but just so that people can enjoy relaxing here. Besides I demoused the kitchen and want to make the most of it while it stays that way :rotfl:

Well, I think you'd have come outside to spectate at least. But given a chance we'd have been sat there for just a little longer... :)

I'm off to pick more blackberries.

This days dragging. My dad is having a biopsy today & I guess that's why I'm in all sorts of avoidance behaviour.
Dunno why it is stressing me though, results take 2 weeks to come through.

    Hugs. :grouphug:

Hoping and praying for the best for him (and you). :)

I have one of these bad boys: http://www.vax.co.uk/carpet-cleaners-and-washers/dual-v-carpet-cleaner-and-washer
(hasten to add, I paid waaaay less than that for it - it was cheaper than of hiring a Rug Doctor, hence the reason I own a carpet cleaner!).

It's ace. My friends beige carpet didn't look dirty at all - they were amazed at the amount of dirt that came out of it.

In case you're wondering, it fits in my car... ;)

Hmmm. I wonder if you and I could organise an extra meet up in addition to lir's so that I could borrow that at one meet and give it back at the other one????

I could make a cake and then actually bring it rather than leaving it at home! :o

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Painting the summerhouse... It's taking too long!:o
Getting the garage sorted (though last week that became a priority!)
    Buying curtains. For every room.
Sorting the chairs for the library. They were finally stripped a week ago. Still not got round to sanding & varnishing them.
There's still so much to get sorted in the garden (I've also been sneakily burning some stuff, to avoid transporting bags of green waste in my car:o ) but I'd rather try pinching the blackberries from next door.

I do want to get water butts. Affording it is the issue atm. I'm in the middle of a 6 week phase of having very little cash. If I can get through the 6 weeks without any bank charges etc, I'll be a happy bunny.

My plan is to not decorate until this time next year. I'll have then seen the house in all 4 seasons, & will have got used to living in it, & where feels hot/cold etc.

Various "what do you have to rivet" jokes, made completely pointless by michaels/NDG beating me to it...

I have a work colleague who says "LOL" - not the letters, the "word".
    Makes me cringe.

I think we have water butts you can take from here and do us a favour.

Sounds like I might be leaving Chez Inrates with a car-ful of manure, so perhaps that would be the better visit to hand it over! I'd be more than happy to lend it to you. It's a thing of wonder. Good excuse for an extra meet-up too :)

    Thank you!

The younger generation of Js are not very good at keeping carpets clean - well, I think that's mostly the female one actually - and the previous owners got it ready for selling by removing the unexceptionable mid-toned carpets and replacing everything with the palest of pale beige. :(

    In other news...
My dad has finally decided to apply for a sheltered flat. He's been on the list for years, so should be right at the top by now, so is quite likely to get allocated the one he's decided to put in for. He hopes to move in before it gets cold this autumn. So then we will have his house to deal with, and potentially lots of furniture etc as the four of us share out the stuff he can't fit into his new place. There's quite a lot of really quite nice stuff in his house (inherited from his parents etc), and moving from a 5-double-bedroom house to a 1-double-1-single-bedroom flat will mean there's a lot he can't take with him.

I feel a bit weird about my childhood home not being there anymore, even though I am certain this is the right move for him.
