Amazing thunder and lightening again. Incredible. And sheets and sheets of rain.

Gen, how do you make this? I've been debating shepherds pie with beans. .

I'd do it: same recipe as usual .... add the whole tin of beans/juice about 5-10 minutes before tipping the lot into the dish... shove mash on top and cook as usual.

I'd leave the beans as the last item so the individual beans didn't go too mushy, rather than adding them close to the start and having them "disappear", so it's a question of whether you want to see the beans or not :)

I'd also keep some back .... to go alongside the pie :)

Riding a bike is a lot harder (effort wise) than I recall!
If you see it as "like walking, but faster" - and only go to places you'd be prepared to (at a push) walk to .... then you can always get off it and push for a bit if it's too hard.

Have noticed in certain light that carpets here have a few stains/marks. What is this carpet cleaning of which you speak?

I have one of these bad boys: http://www.vax.co.uk/carpet-cleaners-and-washers/dual-v-carpet-cleaner-and-washer
(hasten to add, I paid waaaay less than that for it - it was cheaper than of hiring a Rug Doctor, hence the reason I own a carpet cleaner!).

It's ace. My friends beige carpet didn't look dirty at all - they were amazed at the amount of dirt that came out of it.

In case you're wondering, it fits in my car... ;)

On a more serious note - hope all goes well with your pa. It was a very tense couple of weeks earlier this year waiting to hear back about my dad's biopsies. My dad rarely sounds worried about things but that was one episode where he did.

    Quite like those!

    Nice house. Weird kitchen though.

I quite like the picture frames too.

Had to look twice at pic 11 on that house listing - I think I've been hanging out here too long...:D

I'm of the opinion lunch and flame throwing are better kept as separate events.

One strikes me as ideal for a Thursday, no marmite toast on offer. The other, I shall have stream of toast going for nikkster. I know she likes mushrooms, so I can premake some mushroom tart for lunch when she comes, then give her decent supper.

No salty sea dogs locally. There is a single farmer with a stutter.....

Are you saying I don't suit 'lady wot lunches'? :) (who am I trying to kid?)

I do still have a bit of a magnet for food containing mushrooms, but I'm over 2 years out of my mushroom deprivation :) That said the mushroom tart (I think) that you made for the inaugural NP meet up was delicious, I could very happily eat that many more times.
There's really no need to go to any trouble though. I'm in no danger of wasting away any time this century.

Re the Ikea meet up, I don't have a weekend free until Oct, but we could do then if you are up for it. Perhaps as it is round the corner, we could double up with a visit to Bletchley Park if weather is nice.

Oct is likely to be tricky for me. I can possibly do a weekday if that's any easier? In fact I might have to go to MK in the next couple of weeks as I really need to get some new clothes and there aren't many options over here. Otherwise feel free to meet up in Oct without me and I'll drag you to Bletchley in the spring...

I hope, once I've gone through all the boxes, to finally repatriate the instructions with the machine ...

I bet you can get the instructions online...

    ..

    No. Far from it.

I'm saying I cannot handle both in one hit. :). I want to pull some weight with garden, which isn't much, but if I'm cooking would be nothing. So, two separate events. :).

If we time it right you can go home with stuff for freezer ! Oh, and I'll start saving feed bags for well rotted manure for your garden. We'll burn that too, because will reduce weeds in it. Its a shame though, my manure heap is like a beautiful wildlife reserve!, its got bulrushes, a lawn, loads of chamomile ( other weeds too, but I focus on the positive) and the coots love it.

But it does need sorting out.

    No. Far from it.

    I was joking :)

I'm perfectly capable of relaxing (though it's more slobbing out than lady of leisure-esque), but if I'm coming over to graft, I'd prefer to graft. Also means I can dress like a scruff without feeling like I should have made more of an effort :)

I parted PN from the comfort of her seat inside and shift outside when I was at hers :D
