Abersoch Regatta today. I think DD1 may helm the boat, not sure. I know she's a bit nervous about the start. They should have started at 11.30, but can't see them yet. Gorgeous sunny day, but quite a stiff breeze - some white horses in the bay, so prob around Force 4. Keep going out with the binoculars to try and see them. We have some decking at the top of the hedge, with steps up to it. You can see the start line from there. But with the vertigo I'm too nervous to climb up there, I'd prob get up OK but not be able to get down!

Just did the Big Butterfly Count sitting on the deck outside the front door. 6 small tortoiseshells, 1 Peacock, 1 Red Admiral, 1 Wall, 1 small white. Saw a painted lady the other day, but you only count what you see in 15 minutes.

The Squibs are out in the middle of the bay, so if the Seabirds get the same course I should have a good view for at least part of the race.

Local birds have discovered our bird feeders are full again. :rotfl: Scared the first goldfinch I've seen this month when I last went out to see if I could see the boat. There's a very fluffy young bluetit chomping on the sunflower hearts now. Seen the wren in the hedge several times, but he's not interested in the feeders. Nice to see him though. Think it's time to get my shoes and socks on, feet are freezing!

House a few doors along for sale ... if any NP want to live the good life and move close to me. Can't see there being a rush of hands :)

Well trained home owners would report on the price difference between this one and yours.

Its quote long. In the past DH has slept on it with big dog at one end, neither felt squashed I think. Big dog moves if she feels squashed, or makes the other person move if its a dog.

Very long. My screen can't decide whether to stretch or not.

Install a child's slide "in case" .... should be reduced/cheap as it's close to the end of the outdoor toy selling season.

On at £5k less than mine, but a mid, not an end.... last identical one to the one for sale had a lower asking price, but sold at above asking price (not by much).
  • Isaac and OH have gone to the London Cycle Thing - loads of roads closed, so you can cycle round tourist / Merchant Ivory Film London without getting squashed by a passing bus.

Kermie and I have been busy, too - been to Waitrose, bought some spuds and some pistachio magnums. The former is for hte shepherd's pie I'm going to make out of leftover lamb shanks. The latter is for after it. We also bought some chives and cod to make fishcakes.

One of us is now having a little nap after a long, hard morning waving his arms and smiling, so the other of us gets to put the spuds on and waste time online!

    Ah, it's a pastry!
    http://www.cookthink.com/reference/1941/What_is_pate_sablee

It's got almonds in it ... I don't like the taste of almonds.

I like the flavour of almonds and after years of insisting she did not eat Almonds DD had a road to Damascus experience when she realised it was the flavour in marzipan.

Our daughter buys M&S basics almond biscuits. They are the closest she says to the flavour of Almond biccies she had in Singapore. She also makes almond shortcrust pastry for mince pies.

Housey stuff... no matter what you've got to tackle a job, come the moment to do it you realise you need something else.

Got the drain guards, got the screwdriver to take the grill off, to scoop out the leaves (bunged right to the top with leaves/sticks it is) ..... and realised that the downpipe touches the grill. Yes, it's been fitted "on top of" the grill. Now need a hacksaw to hacksaw some of the drainpipe off so I can get the grill out.
