Have you tried pushing the pipe upwards, to see if there is enough movement to get the grill out?

Hacksaw shopping - I got mine in poundland. Works well enough and came with 2 spare blades.

I did give it a little thought, when I first realised.... but it's way too much pipe and no signs of any play at the top joint at all.

There's a 99p shop here.... poundland would involve £2 in fuel and £2 in parking .... so a local hardware shop would be best. There's a cheapo hardware/random stuff warehouse a few hundred yards away. Google shopping tells me many hacksaws start at £3 ... so I'll see..... just not today.

Currently in the middle of handwashing a random net curtain I've unpacked from a box. (Doing random items from random boxes here and there as I have somewhere to put them) .... it looked like it needed a wash before putting it with the others.

Each time I've rented, for immediate window privacy I've bought expanding poles and a random length of cheapo net curtain .... so I've a collection of 4-6 in various sizes now.

What little housey jobs are NP putting off, knowing they have to be done before "something" happens .... but knowing you simply don't fancy it today?

Anything from getting the boiler serviced, before the house blows up ... to repointing the chimney before it falls through the roof ..... or clearing a shelf to put up an ornament before an aged aunt who gave it as a gift visits?

That grille may not be held in place by the pipe, as there is some clearance. Did you unlock it?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Why do your kids need their own printer, can't you share?

Kids have the wifi colour clog up printer in their room - we have the non-wifi black and white duplex dell laser - they ran out of one colour of ink (printer refuses to print unless all colours ok) and I didn't get round to buying them any more for 2 months during which time the other three colours have blocked beyond any attempts to clear.
    I think....
