Anything from getting the boiler serviced, before the house blows up ... to repointing the chimney before it falls through the roof ..... or clearing a shelf to put up an ornament before an aged aunt who gave it as a gift visits?
I need to remove and replace the sealant round the showers.
Riveting stuff.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I need to move the cr4p in my study, so the shelves can stop cluttering up the living room, and be nailed to the wall in my study.
Then my new desk can be put together by OH, and it won't be blocking up the downstairs hallway in its flatpack box and annoying everyone.
Then I can put the assorted cr4p on and in the shelves / desk, and our living room might look less like a bomb hit it.
On the plus side, I've sorted out Kermie's clothes and Isaac's too, and now have neat, labelled boxes of newborn and 0-3 month clothes, his current clothes easy to get at, and Isaac's outgrown clothes from 6 months to 8 years sorted for future Kermie wear.Smiley baby made me smile.
I get that, too (-: There's nothing like a massive gummy grin to lighten my day.Doozergirl wrote: »I need to remove and replace the sealant round the showers.
Riveting stuff.
I know you have 2,000 times more knowledge about this kind of thing than I do - but I don't think you can rivet showers. I really wouldn't try it....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I dunno - they rivet the hulls of ships and they seem to be water-tight....I think....0 -
I do love babies - couldn't eat a whole one mind....
NDG let me know if you want me to remove the picture.
If you could eat whole ones, you wouldn't have to worry about mending your DKs' printer.....
That photos is fine lol.
OH has been trying to get Kermie to stay still and solemn with his eyes open long enough to take a passport photo. It's been a struggle.I dunno - they rivet the hulls of ships and they seem to be water-tight....
Yeah - like the Titanic?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Looking at several vehicles just now, which one I get will depend on which one I find at the right price, mileage, etc.
Probably a reasonably newish Defender/Patrol/Land Cruiser, but haven't completely ruled out something bigger, ie, older Unimog/Canter/Iveco with a camper body.
No rush, expecting to take a year or two as finances and time allow to rebuild and prep it after I buy anyway. Then there's the small matter of getting 12 months off work.....
It's a bucket list thing, but don't want to wait until retirement, and rejoining workforce after 12 months off might get difficult if I leave it too much longer.
Good luck with car and planning H. Have you read Jim Roger's books about travelling around the world and investing in markets as he went? They are a bit old now but the journey sounds a hoot.
I'm pinning my hopes on the Chinese. They are planning to expand their high speed train network, with a 300mph northern route via Russia to Beijing, and another high speed southern route via Shanghai and Iran to Europe. 2 days each way. I'd like to do both.lostinrates wrote: »Omg.......

To be fair, most of us don't have pulling down ceilings on our to do list. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Let me share something *really* annoying with you.
London children now say "OMG" and "LOL". In speech. The first time Isaac said, "oh-em-gee" out loud, I nearly fell over in shock. Sadly, he's said it more since then, as do his little friends. "El-oh-el" is not much less horrifying....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I need to (a) put curtain rails up everywhere downstairs and (b) sort out all the stupid little patches of filler where the previous occupants "made good" all the holes in the walls before leaving.
CBA to do either though. Will try to find some pictures to cover up the mess in due course.0 -

Getting new galss for teh sitting room Woodburner (was ordered today about 12 moths after a crack was first noticed) a 'fitter' and chimney sweep will be booked when the glass arrives.
Decorating our bedroom is about 5 years overdue
The backroom extension is letting in water on two sides:eek: and we have to sort this out urgently (but not so urgent we have done anything)
The single skin garage wall was wet on the inside last winter..it needs weather proofing urgently , but not so urgently that we have done it.
A couple of windows need replacing
The vile kitchen floor tiles ...I declared I could not live with them the day after we moved in...20 years ago this October
As you can see desperate stuff which cannot wait a minute longer:)0 -

Haven't read those yet but sounds interesting.
Currently reading a variety of overlanding books, and trying to get the basic route planning sorted.I'm pinning my hopes on the Chinese. They are planning to expand their high speed train network, with a 300mph northern route via Russia to Beijing, and another high speed southern route via Shanghai and Iran to Europe. 2 days each way. Sounds pretty amazing. If it ever gets built.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Is it recognised as blasphemy?
It would be up there with swearing for me and be an absolute no for family conversation.0
