Just joined a rowing club.
Well, I've signed up for a trial six weeks for a rowing club.
I suppose I should say I've put myself down for the waiting list for the six week trial for the rowing club
Maybe just an excuse to eat 6000 calories a day“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

A long standing bf of DD rowed for his Oxford College. We thought he was in training for the eating event in the Olympics.
A side effect was that his thighs grew to a huge girth, we bought him trousers which he just could not pull up! Beware.0 -

And personally, I am a bit odd about colours, I think the colour that suits you can be the colour you love, more than the colour that suits you. Well worn, joy for a colour is more important I think than many other things. And I also agree there are warm blues.
But there are also icey ones. Its not that I don't like blue, I do. I just have a stiong personal disconnect with most shades of blue. Not all, but most.
We both love blue, and I have a soft spot for silver.
OH and myself both agree that dark blues are out, but interestingly, my preferred blue is really pale, where OH's is a lot darker, as can be referenced from this photo (Facebook says taken about April 2007, and ignoring the Escort, which was awaiting its first plate as a company car)💙💛 💔0 -
Is it recognised as blasphemy?
It would be up there with swearing for me and be an absolute no for family conversation.
My Dad largely got him out of the habit by spelling other things - calling him "eye-ess-double-ehy-see" worked a treat. He said, "oh, DAD!" and Dad replied, "oh EY-ESS" and they both mostly dropped it.
PS - they don't have blasphemy in Islington. Isaac didn't actually know what OMG stood for; and on being asked, neither did any of his friends. Little heathens, the lot of 'em....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Back from holiday, what have I missed? Anything important?
Holiday was good, spending money budget was small but we made the most of it doing simple but enjoyable things and the boys have pronounced it a great success. At least this year I didn't come home to the mess I did last year when James stayed at home...think my nagging at him last year got through!
I still went right through the house though on our return cleaning, so consequently, I now cannot move on top of being absolutely exhausted. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
That grille may not be held in place by the pipe, as there is some clearance. Did you unlock it?
I said/meant that the grille is prevented from being removed as the pipe is pretty much touching the grill, so no wriggle room/clearance to get it lifted/out. The grill itself is about 1/2" thick, so it has to come up that much, then tilt a little and moved aside.
Yes, I unscrewed the screws - you can see an empty screwhole in the photo.
There isn't enough clearance as the grill is down, below paving stone level, by 3/4" or so .. it'd need 1/2" clearance or so to get it wriggled out0 -

I had infinity at the last place... not that I could use its potential due to having a slow PC .... all I wanted was more bandwidth and they put me on that. When I moved, this exchange doesn't have it.0 -
Glad you had fun, Sue! Sounds as if you've returned at the right time - good weather while you were away, and now it'll be rubbish tomorrow....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Looking at several vehicles just now, which one I get will depend on which one I find at the right price, mileage, etc.
Probably a reasonably newish Defender/Patrol/Land Cruiser, but haven't completely ruled out something bigger, ie, older Unimog/Canter/Iveco with a camper body.
No rush, expecting to take a year or two as finances and time allow to rebuild and prep it after I buy anyway. Then there's the small matter of getting 12 months off work.....
It's a bucket list thing, but don't want to wait until retirement, and rejoining workforce after 12 months off might get difficult if I leave it too much longer.
I'd find it hard to look past the Land Cruiser of the cars on your list.
I wouldn't want to take a Defender anywhere which didn't have a substantial dealrr network and roadside recovery group. You'll struggle to break a Land Cruiser.
It's something I've noticed in my time in places like Aus and the Middle East: anywhere where it's absolutely essential that your car starts first time every time, people buy a Toyota.0
