It's ok. I've done ok at this job I think even if my boss, her boss and his boss don't think so.

I've done a bunch of things that nobody else has been able to do and I've failed to complete a project that nobody elsr has managed to complete.

I've got 6 months to find more work and there's a reasonable chance that I'll get a significant pay rise as a result.

I need a ladder, Homebase have two, a 4-step at £26 and a 5-step at £27,. I thought I'd go for the bigger one as there's nothing worse than being 2" short of being able to reach..... I hate ladders.... but you need them to change lightbulbs and put curtains up and similar annoying stuff. If I buy that on the morning of completion, it can stay in the car.... and I can take it straight round. I've already got/kept my shed shelving and fabric wardrobe in the boot of the car :)

We have an extending ladder in the house. I don't know how much it was. It was one of RP's better buys IMO. It takes up very little room, and is annoying that it has to lean on something rather than be a step ladder, but in a small home in valuable. In our house its currently tucked in a nook by the utility sink or between utility dresser and the wall where little else would fit.

For thinks like light bulbs we use a step up ( which we call a makey tall-y) or a chair in lower ceilinged room like upstairs or go outside and get step ladder for rooms like the sitting room which has a high ceiling. The cheese room three together fir just stands on the alter.

I'd want a step ladder as there's often no wall where you need a ladder. e.g. ceiling lightbulb in the middle of the room .... even curtains tend to be just by windows, so a shortage of solid wall. Also, if (ha ha) decorating, it's harder to use a ladder that needs a wall if you're painting that wall.

There's also the loft .... which I have no intentions of ever going into (scared of lofts) .... but I might venture a peek.

My experience is that, for ladders, taller is always better!

Edit: But maybe check that the bigger one is not heavy and will fit in your cupboard?

Have you checked these will fit in the car?

Can you do reserve and collect at Homebase, to be sure they have one in stock for you when you need it?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I don't think deprivation of assets comes into play if you have used the money to buy a home.

Income support would give you about £71 a week. If you were working over 30 hours a week, working tax credit would give you more.

With or without claiming one of those two, you could claim help with council tax.

sea shells on mirrors sounds more fun.

Changing the subject, someone said they wanted to share something on the other place. 1 July now, so there should be some band width.
I think it was NDG wanted a look at my garden.

I have teeny tiny tomatoes and teeny tiny round carrots (I think those ones are supposed to be teeny tiny and round) and teeny tiny courgettes :j

I'm more than a teeny tiny bit excited :)
Still yet to get flowers on my tomatoes. But I did plant them late.
The strawberries found in the rockery have tiny fruits on them.

    Give this quiz a try?

    http://vocabulary.ugent.be/wordtest/test

"On the basis of your results, we estimate you know 90% of the English words.

You said yes to 90% of the existing words.

You said yes to 0% of the nonwords.

    This gives you a corrected score of 90% - 0% = 90%"

    I did it 3 times, got 87%, 84% and 90%.
You said yes to 76% of the existing words.

You said yes to 7% of the nonwords.

    This gives you a corrected score of 76% - 7% = 69%.

This is fairly high level for a native speaker.
There was a show on radio four last night about working with mental illness and how bosses could make it easier. I admit I smirked and thought they cannot do it for physical illness or carers often enough in high pressure environments. I am sorry to have my view confirmed gen. Also stupid of them as you are 'over the hump' .
    Massively agree with this!

    There's a works do tonight.

    I was going to go.
Then changed my mind & decided not to.
Couple of people have been saying I should go. Thought about it & whilst unsure, got a ticket again.

However, today has made me not want to again.

    Thoughts/suggestions?

Go. Be charming, say little. Hearing the gossip can pay dividends in its own right. Even if you just go for fifty minutes and be seen as taking part/showing willing.

No pressure to say more than you want to.

But does it come with longer holidays than you get at present? I know you'd like that. :)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

1.03 looks right to me. The four rung one says 0.8m, so ratioing that for five rungs gives around 1.03m.

If you are five foot tall, and you stand on the platform of the five rung ladder, the top of your head will be over eight feet, and your arms can reach another foot or so higher than that. Standard ceiling height is just under eight feet. So, hurrah hurrah, you will not need to stand on the ladder platform. That is safer.
