I too had to look up onanist, though my initial reaction was 'total w*nkbag', which on checking the dictionary was on the money.

They sound like someone so up themselves that they waft in on the smell of their own fart.

    Good guess!

My direct boss is quite up herself. She's habitually very rude to people in meetings. I don't necessarily have a problem with that as it can achieve things but she ofte does it to make herself feel good I think.

If that's the direction of travel for the company, perhaps it's bItter to be out of there - albeit hard because it's not on your own terms and of your own choosing.

Given your manager's comments, do you expect a good reference from them? Or will you have sufficient external contacts for your performance to speak for itself to prospective employers?

My appraisal is actually very good, I'd easily get an internal job off the back of it. It's just that they're giving me the Spanish archer (el Bow).

The markets can see the trouble the company is in but I think underestimate exactly how systemic the problems are.

Social anxiety strikes again. I've managed to sabotage my own day tomorrow :(

    Oh no. :(
Not sure what to say but sending hugs: :grouphug:

I'm really quite weed off about this. "I've not been able to make a judgement about your performance this half year due to your illness. However, there is nothing you can do between now and the end of the year to make me want to renew your contact".

    Onanists.

I have no frame of reference for such an irrational attitude. It baffles me. But it also makes me angry.

Hoping things turn out even better for your eventually because of this, but realise that's not much comfort now.

Errr ... is this where I admit not needing to look up Onanists???

Tommorow we are doing DD1 birthday party (10), I am taking DD1, DD2 and 3 of DD1's friends to see Malifecent at the cinema and before that some sort of meal, no doubt they would like McDs but obviosuly I have to think of something less chavvy but still quick - suggestions (preferably with a voucher offer)?

Also any thoughts on what to get her as a present, there is a pop up tent and a badminton set but I suspect she also wants something she can play with inside, perhaps something crafty or a traditional games - I know other NPs have similar age DDs.

Predicted a win for Germany (or be it 2-2 plus penalties) but also predicted Brazil 2-1 currently I am 2/3rds of the way down our competition but hopefully if the other results go well it may improve a bit.

Mind a blank on the present issue - sorry - but just want to say that DS has recently seen Maleficent and liked it, so I hope your girls and their friends do too. :)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Malificent is M (12) rated over here. The house policy is no M movies at the cinema. We can have them at home if watching with a parent who can cover eyes/sing over the 'unsuperble' (family word = unsuitable, I think came from the kids thinking it meant 'not super') bits.

My son spent the first couple of years of his life thinking a football was called a 'kick it'. I'd put a ball down in front of him and say, "Kick it, mein Generalissimo, kick it".

How old are your kids, Gen? DS is 13.

Maleficent is PG here. What does the M in M(12) mean?

Delightful! Somebody connected with my family had a child who thought the cat's name was "Gently".

    M = mature.

Then we have MA15+ (mature adult 15) and R18. R18 is almost never given to mainstream films, it's basically for !!!!!! and what I term 'violence !!!!!!'. Oh and the odd art house film that is !!!!!! but for people with arts degrees.

    Gently is funny :)

I wonder if we have a different 'cut' here as Lydia says it is PG here - not sure what M12 means but I hope PG will be ok for 10yo girls (DD2 is 8 but can sit next to me), only other option was How to train your dragon 2 which wasn't what DD wanted to choose for her trip with GFs (although I suspect she would have enjoyed it). Looks like it will be Zizzi using clubcard vouchers. Annoyingly only have enough for 7.50 = 30 of vouchers as although I have another £200 of points for some reason the vouchers got cancelled and won't be reissued for another month.
    I think....

Nothing wrong with a bit of onanism.

I've got a combination ladder like this one (not that expensive though!) http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/3-way-combination-ladder---186m-190767

The extra versatility of being able to extend it a little, and being able to have steps up to the top, is really useful. Also if you need the legs to be on different levels, you can remain horizontal where it matters.

While they appear a good/versatile solution .... anything that keeps my feet on the ground and my hands away from anything vaguely like DIY or manual work is a better solution. It'd end in tears at some point if I had a better ladder :)
