Sorry to hear that, Gen. Maybe it fits in with the whole reassessing life thing that you're thinking about at the moment. Whatever happens it'll mean new opportunities.

I have a few ideas but really I need a year or two to get into a financial position to persue them. This is quite annoyingly timed truth be told and basically connected to me having cancer.

I'm a bit annoyed but what can I do about it? I can hardly force my employers to keep me on! Oh well. I have a pretty strong CV and I interview pretty well. I'll get something before the year's out.

How cynical of them. Their loss.

That's my thought too. Sounds a harsh environment. Good luck Gen finding somewhere you are appreciated more.

I scored 69%. I sense that a lot of the words I didn't say yes to were scientific. There was another I missed by pressing the wrong button and one I said no to because the spelling was American, plus a portmanteau word I'm still not sure about. Probably fair though.

    From me too.

At least you've found out with a few months to go, and Mrs Gen has her job now. Not very nice from employers though.

I just found out that I'm not going to have my contract renewed at the end of the year which is annoying as I quite like this job. Best dust off the CV...

Face didn't fit .... bosses can be bar stewards even if you don't work in a bar. Sorry to hear that; I've had many bad experiences with bosses in the past as my face doesn't tend to fit :(

    *dodgy hugs*

It really knocks your confidence, especially as you then go into the next job with the puzzlement of "why me?" so you start on a low.

There was a show on radio four last night about working with mental illness and how bosses could make it easier. I admit I smirked and thought they cannot do it for physical illness or carers often enough in high pressure environments. I am sorry to have my view confirmed gen. Also stupid of them as you are 'over the hump' .

Very sorry to hear that as you must be at the top of teh queue for a bit of good luck...or at least a period of calm.

As others have posted, the cynicism and lack of empathy from some people appalls me.

Getting this news was not linked to the meeting you baked biscuits for?

Is it only your job that is not renewed? How long have you been with them and when are you due to leave?

Agree with everyone else that your employer is both appalling and stupid.

Sending hugs to encourage you as you start to ponder what to do next: :grouphug:
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Sorry to hear that, Gen. Gives you an opportunity to find better, less short-sighted bosses though.

Got 84%. I approached it with confusiasm but I might have spedified through it too fastly. :(
