TBH I've always fancied myself as a bit of a photographer. I like to try to capture the spirit of an event/person as much as what is actually happening.

This is one of my favourite photos of The Girl:

    _DSC1591.jpg

It was taken at a wedding at the point where the kids start getting bored before the food starts. She was sword fighting with these beautiful dead plants stems.

Though she be but little, she is fierce! :D

Yes they did. There's a satellite and wires coming through the walls in the living room and bedroom for that.

If the satellite dish is still in existence you could buy a second hand sky dish for about £10. Our kitchen TV was connected to the aerial, much later we had it connected to the sky box in another room. Unbeknown to us the aerial lead fell out, but we still got a signal on the digital channels. So somehow the sky box must be able to push the digital signal along the wires.

It's almost certainly a case of flicking a switch... in the loft.

This is stuff you should record. In 40 years' time that'll morph into "Oh, it was at some wedding ... I think".

I wish I could see a photo of me on a beach and know "It was Easter weekend 196x and we'd gone to xxxx. The car overheated on the way home so mum and kids sat and ate sandwiches at the roadside while dad walked 3 miles to a garage to get some water"

Most of our old photos were on slides.... which'd become mixed up over the years too. Nuisance they are as you need to get kit out to view them. Before "it all kicked off", I'd actually scanned them in. Not brilliantly, but at least I had a scan of each one. The intention was to select the best and get them burnt to DVD.... still not done that bit yet. My sibling's got the slides, I've got the scans. I'd like to compile "the best" and cut them to DVD still for mum.... although she's not got the marbles to put the DVD in her telly and watch it, it's something we could do 2x a year or so during a visit when we're a bit stuck on what to say.

    It's in an online photo album called X & Y's wedding, dd/mm/yy.

If she can't work it out from there then too bad!!!

Oh yes. She's going to be trouble when she's older.

When we first got over here she used to sit and argue with herself.

You'd think the switch would be automatically flicked ..... makes sense. Why would a builder not flick a switch??

P.S. I'm not going up there....

Ah, OK. I hope you've got a copy offline in case that website disappears.

If Google goes than having a jpeg copy on a hard drive is unlikely to help.

Media are ephemeral and temporary these days. I'm not going to spend tens of thousands on acid-free paper and fire-proof safes to ensure that the kids have got pictures of them messing about at their second cousin's wedding.

    I've been Money Tipped!
The place: the white garden smells of ridiculously candied chamomile, honied buddleia, roses in many guises, and grass.

The company, dog, dog, kiwi, lawn chickens, pink whistley, occasional passing car and cyclist

The soundtrack Stan Getz w/ astrid Gilberto and Joao Gilberto. ( and pinky singing)

THIS is possibly this perfect Sunday morning. Weeding, kissing, rolling about on the grass a bit. :)

There is a dish, they left that.

I don't know/understand Sky or how it works... all I know is there are two leads poking out of the wall that are ugly. One is a double-joined-lead, ending in two smallish connectors, the other one has three (or so) fine wires protruding (that look like they would need to be wired into something.

I'd need a box of some sort?

The double joined lead ending in 2 connectors are the leads from the satellite dish. If you had a sky box they would fit into the back of it, giving you signal to input 2 sky channels at the same time. Enables you to watch one channel while recording another.

One solution would be to buy a cheap second hand sky box (~£10) get a freestat card for it (~£10-20), then you can watch all the freeview channels through the skybox free forever.
