Sounds like a super day too..
We had a lovely lazy day yesterday just the seven of us ( fir , me, house dwelling four legs). Was v. Lazy ( most of they time:) ) and v wonderful. ( we weren't sure whether RP was going to be away or not, so it felt like a bonus) especially on a rainy day, it felt like the weather was saying......just enjoy each other, relax. DH has an unusual amount of work to keep an eye on ATM ( summer holidays mean he is overseeing obscene numbers of things).
To day its dry and after all that rain the ground will probably be a little yielding. Seems like a good day to weed perhaps.
I just printed out this photo of The Girl:
The first time she ate chocolate0 -
Result ... just went outside and there's an aerial on the old house next door. So now I know which way to "point" the aerial.
Before anybody asks "do you have a loft hatch??" .... don't go there. There is NO way I am looking in the loft. I don't do lofts, lofts scare me ... there are things in lofts that I have no desire to see (everything from darkness and spiders, to webs and daylight and draughts and.... well, horrid things are in lofts, they give me the heeby-jeebies).0 -

Brilliant pic gen! Had to come downstairs on laptop as was only a pink dot on laptop, couldn't see it.
So glad you had a lovely day with the generalissimos. Sounds fun. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Since I turned the aerial up full - and knew which way to "point it" might be right ... I seem to have more channels/a better signal.
Cheers NPs ... this looks like it might be working. Only time will tell though.0 -

Something Ian Hislop said on Who Do You Think You Are was poignant.... his dad had died when he was about 12 and his mum when he was about 32. Programme started with him looking at some old home movies, which were mostly of him/his siblings.... he said "when you're looking at these, the camera's pointed at you, but you wish it was pointing at the cameraman more". So while he enjoyed the old movies, he was more interested in seeing images of his parents in those movies than in seeing images of him aged 3-8/whatever.
And it's true. Parents take photos of their kids .... then the kids look at them in 20-30-40 years' time and think "wish there was more here of mum/dad".
He didn't have my i. Laws as recorders then. Fil took lots of footage of himself:rotfl:. When we watched the stuff converted to DVD ( which fir and I sorted out) he said, 'oh, look, there you are, fir. There's brother. Ooooooh, sister. Mummy. OH! wow! ITS MEEEEEEEE!' Fir and I got the giggles. No coyness there, he knew who his favourite was!0 -

My dad had a camera; he seemed to buy two rolls of film for the summer holiday, but not much for the rest of the time. He loved taking photos, but, looking at them, he wasn't that good. There are a few shots of us in the garden in the summer (probably once he'd bought the two rolls of film ready for the summer holiday, or using it up after we came back). No Xmas shots or birthdays - except one random photo of my 2nd birthday party - so a yellowy shot of 3-4 kids sitting at a table with squash and sandwiches.
We didn't either PN.
And there are not many photos either, for a few reasons.
I don't mind..

Likewise. There are a few photos, but more of my brother than me I think. I don't mind either.
Gen- both those photos are ace. Looks to me like really capture the essence of the moments0 -

Nobody ever mentions putting aerials in on the telly build programmes! I've also never seen questions here from people in new builds saying they don't get reception. Maybe the socket is live and maybe my lead was duff... or it needs another try as I tried it when it was having a bad day.
Anyway - as I was out there, I went up my side bit and heard a seagull flapping, looked up - and there's an aerial he was perched on, the old house next door. So now I know which way to "point" the aerial.

Did the previous inhabitant have Sky? I wonder if your aerial, or the signal splitter is still switched off from being new. In the loft is pretty common...
Either way, you need someone to come and make a start on those jobs.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

TBH I've always fancied myself as a bit of a photographer. I like to try to capture the spirit of an event/person as much as what is actually happening.
This is one of my favourite photos of The Girl:
It was taken at a wedding at the point where the kids start getting bored before the food starts. She was sword fighting with these beautiful dead plants stems.0
