If I wanted to buy fake diamonds, lookey likey Rolexes or sweatshirts with sequined elephants on I'd be just fine.

Who wouldn't want a sequined elephant?

Girl-Gen sounds wonderful - she doesn't just enjoy life and seize the day, she grabs it by the scruff of the neck!

I absolutely love all 3 photos you've posted of her; they are all the same in that they show complete involvement in the moment, carpe diem in its best sense.

Does she still have gorgeous red hair, or has it faded or darkened as she's grown?

Oh yes. She's going to be trouble when she's older.

My Dad used to accuse me and sister #1 of being able to start a fight in an empty room!
In some of ours we don't even know if the baby in the pram is me or my sibling - because all babies look the same :)

Is your Mum still able to tell which if you ask her now, so you can label them?

My Granny was obsessive about that - so there's a photo of me my Mama was showing Isaac, which says on the back, "Miss <fullname> NDG, born <date of birth> with her father <his full name> aged 3 weeks and 2 days".
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

Another suggestion for PN's TV problem. If you "merely" retune the box, the new channels found slot themselves in at the next available numbers, so if 1 to 200 are already taken, even by garbled signalling, the new channels will be much further down the pecking order. And if there are no free channels they may not save. You need to reset the box completely, which involves googling how to do this for your particular box and involves sequences like "hold down buttons 1, 2 and 4 for 5 seconds until the 3rd red light starts flashing".

I really encourage The Girl to live life as she does, I love it. She's fantastic: she lives carpe diem as a lifestyle whilst being really considerate of others. Carpe diem is too often used as an excuse to do what you want and damn the rest.

Her hair has gotten brighter rather than duller if anything: the sun puts amazing highlights(think that's the word for light streaks???) into her hair.

I was also going to suggest a cheap freesat box (/old sky box plus card).

Drove to Merryfields and you are all psychic - looked like it was unadopted (small non-council 'road' built on previous garden) and the bit that was clearly drive for the nearest house does come far enough North that you would have to cross the first 10 feet of it to have an entrance into the garden of the house - the drive is extremely long so this would not impact the house n Merryfields at all but would obviously give them all the leverage they needed if they did not want development to go ahead there.

In of the deed. To be frank, they are bound not to want the development. Whether you could persuade them with money is one question, and how much would be required is the other.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Clearly cut out for a career in law from an early age.

Well if it were me I would want a good cut of the profit if I held all the cards.

Now wondering if instead there might be room to squeeze a drive past the front of the house (having removed the silly utility room addition) to a new property on the South edge of the plot with drive to its N and garden to its W.
    I think....

Will you include them in your dinner?

I have freshly picked runner beans..that next door have put over the fence.

We are supposed to bbq half a leg of lamb, sausages and burgers, but DD is at Hickstead and I now fancy roast lamb, runner beans and roast potatoes...and courgettes.

Bit of an "aargh" moment this morning. We knew we had damp coming inthrough the floor by the patio doors, an dhave been considering what we do (repair or knock down room and major work) moved a sofa today...and the carpet behind it has signs of damp too.

    Need to make a decision:(

I hate housey stuff, and really admire those of you that have the interest and drive to do development/restoration/maintenance. I just have zero appetite for it.

Me too... it'd not be so bad if there were somebody else with a vested interest to consider the options too ....and, maybe, even do something about it themselves.... and pay for it.

I hate it, but I do know a stitch in time saves nine.

I doubt she'd have known if she were asked 20 years ago.... she's not really interested. Never been interested in answering questions, or remembering things .... and now she doesn't even know who I am half the time :)

My grandmother had a selective memory; anyone she liked became siblings or possibly first cousins, anyone she disliked became second cousins twice removed.

If you mean my freeview box .... every time when it asks to keep/delete old channels I always choose to delete them all.

I did, could the freeview box be the problem? Could the signal be digital only in your area, so needs a better box?

Go here: http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/ and see what it says about transmitters in your area.
