I think the phrase is "I need to spend A day...."
    Not "today".
    :)

Sadly, it has to be today. Too much going on too soon to put it off another whole day. :( Another hour or two, though... :o

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Having always had the shleving units on "the list" to buy - and having bought two yesterday .... and having earlier measured the alcove to realise they'd fit wonderfully handily .... I decided today should be the day I build them.

Just took one set up the stairs, along with the required regular screwdriver, cordless screwdriver, little pot for the screws, scissors to get the pack open. I've so far opened the pack and twisted/knotted the plastic wrapping ..... and stacked the pieces into three piles (based on size). That's it for now .... phase II shortly.

I need to spend today on chores ... but not quite yet! :o

Good luck with the chores. Just think how great you'll feel when they're done! ;)

I'm still tucked up in bed with a hot water bottle and "Don't Get Done, Get Dom". :o Woke to heavy rain, and though it's stopped it looks as if it might start again any time. So no rush to get out into the garden to begin to tidy up the hedge. Chores today are finishing the unpacking and trying to tidy up the small back bedroom that I use as a "dressing room". It was still full of sails till yesterday evening, so only wardrobe space was available in there. Might make up the bed in the big bedroom for our visitor who arrives tomorrow. Will see how the energy holds out!

If the rain holds off I might go and chop the flowers off the curry plant in herb pot on the deck. It was looking a bit sorry for itself yesterday, but the rain combined with gusty wind has rather flattened it now. Plenty of new growth under the flowers though, might even get a second flush of flowers in autumn if I take them off now. (Eternal optimist!) Might go and pick the ripe alpine strawberries too. Plant still flowering, so hopefully more will come in time for when the GSs arrive.

OH is now off to the boat to see how much she's leaked overnight. Duck's a wooden boat, so tends to dry out under her tarpaulin over the winter. He did fill her with water when we were here earlier in the summer, and hosed down the upper planking and re-covered with tarp, but with the hot dry weather over July he's worried she's dried out quite a lot. Also he had a phone call from one of the other Seabirders about an hour ago to say she isn't as he left her last night. So he's gone off with a spare anchor (he'd anchored from the stern as well tied off at bows) in case there's a problem... I hope the anchor hasn't been nicked. There's a lot more theft off boats and off the beach here than there was even 4 or 5 years ago. :(

I've got that on. He does annoy me due to his voice/tone of voice and the programme's perpetual repeating of the basic facts without really achieving much. Whole programme could be chopped down to just 5 minutes of relevant information.

Good luck with the shelving Pastures. Well done for getting on with it!

Caravan 4 along from us just had an A*da delivery. Must make quite a difference to the local shops now there's the big supermarket opened in Pwllheli. Hasn't affected the butcher though - there's usually a queue out of the door in August!

Rains just started again, so no bracken pulling this morning!

Yeah, most of the daytime programmes seem to be like that. <rolls eyes> I imagine it's so you can have it on while doing the housework and not miss anything if you leave the room for a few minutes. IYSWIM

Avatar Dog tended to kill tennis balls. He was better with one of these, which didn't even get dented when he chewed it, let alone punctured and then dismembered, which was what happened to tennis balls.

Wheezy westie kills tennis balls too. If they are firmly inflated they last a bit longer, but the ones you can easily squeeze are finsihed within minutes.

I bought a batch of 100 second hand tennis balls on ebay in April and they're almost dealt with. :)

His favourite toy is a boomer ball. Completely indestructible.

His favourite indoor toy is his rabbit blanket, which he presents to you to play tug of war.

Mine mostly chew each other in a friendly fashion! Ruby nearly 7 and Heidi, 4 on Monday, are particularly unaware that they are actually grown up now.

As always, I love the sound of Wheezy westie. :)

The ball on a rope toy was particularly good for Avatar Dog because even I could throw it a reasonably long way. He quite enjoyed tug of war on occasions, but his all time favourite game was fetch. We used to say that the greyhound half of him ran after the ball and the labrador half brought it back. If he was hot or tired, he would attempt to hang onto the ball and not let the humans have it, but if we got it and threw it then he had no option but to run after it - it was irresistible to him.
