Aw, Lydia, that is so sweet of you! I'd have handed you the phones I don't use. We have a BT pair, only one runs of the BT socket, the other just plugs into the wall like magic. Perhaps you could use something like that, with the second handset strategically placed to avoid wall? My phone phobia gets in the way with arranging meetings etc but I got Doozer to move the meeting to 6pm. Embarassing because I'd moved it already, but it's her first time going there and I'd feel bad entrusting her to family, even. It's important, it's just if I'd known. I can be flexible with almost everything!

PN, aside from the RL link to LIR, I would trust a RL school teacher with my children. I have to! One of DS's school friends is being entrusted to Lydia's care at her school in September as well.

I shall drop DD and then treat myself to a new bra at the supermarket and an eyebrow wax while I wait. Could be worse.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The one in the kitchen is plugged in in the kitchen, by the door. Doesn't work right by it, but works at just the right angle at my table or in the corner of the sofa. Doesn't work at all well in the cooking area, in the utility. Really annoying when people call while I'm cooking.

    :Omg, I did something.

Not much, but it cleaned the sink and the out side of the deep freeze. I'm going to go back and do outside of washer and dryer too. Staggering stuff I know:o

Bad ankle is also feeling better, probably from all the time off it. Still swollen, think it probably always will be now, like knee, but much less sore. And bad swollen knee is now not hurt at all knee. :D

    Progress.

Seems rather meagre compared to coping with working while undergoing radio though!

Anyhow, I'm trying to do think of little jobs that I can do without setting off a chain of events that lead to big jobs so I can do little bits at a time. If I just do a few things its a few things more.

I just got a call about my meds, they are putting me back on an old capsule pill we know causes minor intolerance because of drug interaction problems, its not major issue, but a bit annoying. It also contains dairy which may or may not be a problem, we'll soon find out I guess! The increase in the depressive stuff starts tonight.....maybe I've rallied just as I need to!

Balls. You're doing your thing while undergoing what you're undergoing. There is no relativism here. I face my situation and you face yours.

I have a problem in that I need to try to scale things down. I can't keep on as I have for the last 25 years, it's all too much. You've faced similar challenges I think.

SuperGen has to be sidelined in favour of GoodEnoughGen I think. It's proving very difficult, not least of which is managing everyone else around me. I'll still do some superhero stuff (I have to) but it might have to be through the Cancer Survivor lens.

Super LiR is currently the person that cleans out a sink. I'm sure that another Super LiR will be around one day with a different aim, be it cycling up a mountain with SuperGen or finishing a crossword puzzle.

Good luck. Thankfully I've never had to go through all that stuff. I'd be hopeless at balancing conflicting side effects. I'd put it down to trying to cycle 200kms/up a massive mountain/to the shops (depending on severity of illness) rather than being able to carefully consider the impact of each and every pill.

I've achieved a banking fail today. Just when you think it's safe to go into a bank .... you're foiled.

Money's in two accounts: savings and current accounts.
Branch exists so in I went with my card (that I didn't have last time, but have since been issued with) ... last time they said they couldn't do what I wanted as I didn't have the card. Today I have the card. Also took my passport in case they wanted further ID.

To get it in perspective, I was trying to enquire of transferring money to a solicitor's across the road from them, you can see the place.

In I went ..... CHAPS or Other? She said the Other's not guaranteed, if it goes wrong then it could end up in a black hole - and it could end up in a black hole anyway, so CHAPS is best. "OK - I'll do it now then, then it's done" .... no.

Banking fail. Most of the money's in the savings account, not the current account. The card gives me/them authorisation to do stuff with the current account, but to do stuff with the savings account I'd need my "bank book". Now, this is a book I was issued with when I set up the account 2.5 years ago and haven't touched since.... so, clearly, I didn't have it with me.

So, options are: to transfer the money (in £50k chunks) via Internet banking ... to the current account. Or, go into the branch with the "book".

Luckily for me, as I've always said "Don't know where stuff is, but all the banking's lobbed into 4 boxes that are [a] always kept with me here."

So, I came in and had the book that I didn't know existed within 2 minutes of coming home. But I'm still thwarted for today.

Theoretically .... if I present myself at the branch with the CARD and the BOOK .... that's the authorisation for them to move money in both/either account, so I could: Tx all from savings to current; Tx via CHAPS nearly everything in the current.

It's nearly 2pm though .... tempted to give it a go just in case they hit me with another "problem".

And they do this all the time telling me "just come in, we'll sort you out" - and I repeatedly pointed out to them that every time I've gone to the branch I've never been helped as I always need something that [a] I've not got didn't anticipate.

    :)

What a lovely thing to say.

I'm actually a very flawed person so I think you wouldn't want me as a brother. I'd make a good cousin seen now and again though I think.

I am going to get back into the world of computer at home - any recommendations for laptops? Not an Apple person and I don't stream loads of films etc.

Both DH and I have Dells and my family also has an HP. I prefer Dell to HP. If you are looking for a cheapie, it's worth checking the Dell Outlet, we buy all of our PCs from there and they are often 40-50% off. Inspirons are fine, but they are built to price (but having said that you can get quite a good spec one for about £270 with a big screen). If you want something a bit more bulletproof for business, the upgrade to Latitude is worth it. Inspiron is broadly their home product, Latitude office.
