How far is middle-distance? Sounds like 10-15 miles.
No, I think my temperament and physique are totally unmatched.
Can be quite single minded/driven/goal seeking. Unless your talking diet/exercise/housework in which case sloth like body and attitude are as one.0 -
Interesting. Thanks. The "more likely to have a girl as you age" thing certainly fits my family. My parents, my brothers, me ... all began with a boy or boys and either went on to have a girl afterwards or not:
My parents : BBBG
Brother #1: BB
Brother #2: BG
Brother #3: B
Me: BG
My grandparents don't fit the pattern though. Sadly history does not record *what* the article suggested that they tried.
Yes, yes, plural of anecdote isn't data. I know.
My dad'd dad had nine sons. They then had a mix of boys and girls. The generation after that had many more girls. Too many variables. Seventeen's the maximum number of kids in my family tree.
My great-gran had that many and my oldest uncle had that many. Also my cousins through him had their own kids my age. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
My father was the only son, he had five sisters.
My mum was one of five girls and two brothers.
Many many cousins:)
My mum had seven children of which one son and three daughters survived. She lost her first born son on the day he was born and subsequently near term twin boys (legend has it due to DV:() before I was born.
My eldest sister has four sons (two deceased), other sister has one of each, brother has one of each and I have DD.0 -
Interfering Mum? Really feel it is important to encourage kids independence.
So DS2 is due home tomorrow from Africa. His mates changed their flight to make up for the delay in departure, he needs to get back for work experience. Flight involves a change of plane and leaves at early o'clock in the morning. So check in is about 3.30am!
He messages me to say that it isn't safe to go round the city at night, so he plans to stay in the airport overnight. I query whether the airport is actually open overnight as last plane is before 11pm. He reports back that he's been told it isn't safe to be alone in the airport overnight.
Plan B is to get a driver (I think the company he is with has drivers they can book) to take him to the airport early in the morning and "they've said the driver will go really slowly to make it safer".
So my dilemma was whether to interfere or not. he is 20 so should be making these decisions for himself.
After deliberating, I asked him if he wanted me to try and get him on the night flight home with BA on Avios.
Half an hour later, he replied that it may make things a lot easier.
So I booked, completed check-in and API for him and he is sorted.

Feel free to have a laugh at my expense.
As you may recall, a few months ago we took a punt and booked flights and a hotel for Eurovision next year. Our bet was that it would be held in Vienna, and if it wasn't, then we could take internal transfers to the location.
They've changed the date. So we're now booked in a week early. Doh!
Have always wanted to go to Vienna though, so it will still be fun. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Yes, I agree. But you can't turn off being a parent (I'm guessing as a non-parent).
My mum would do the same. Though I probably would have only told her about the travel dilemma when I was safely back home so she wouldn't have had a chance to help0 -
Went out with parental unit to celebrate said parental unit's retirement. Ate too much. Feel sick.
Wednesday's fast day was moved to Friday this week under the "because I want to" clause of the diet.
Other than that... is hot. Is sweaty. Has broken washing machine. Oops.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
