Reasonably so. Furthermore, the 5'8" brother and I both married people in that magic 5'7"-5'8" family height range.neverdespairgirl wrote: »With 4 children, how many grandchildren did you parents end up with?
2+2+1+2=7Funny isn't it. All that money is pumped into screening for breast cancer and cervical cancer when on the face of it you'd be much better trying to prevent heart disease.
Maybe. But it's not a direct comparison.
Preventing heart disease is largely a matter of trying to convince people to change behaviours that they don't want to change.
Cervical cancer, especially, is exactly the sort of disease for which screening works: without screening, you have no way of knowing if you've got it until it's far too late to do anything much about it, it's easy to screen for, and it's very quick, easy and side-effect-free to treat if you catch it at the pre-cancerous stage - not so much so if you don't catch it until a bit later.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Grrrr! Your height it not meaningful to the nearest 10th of a mm!ukmaggie45 wrote: »Oh well done LiR! :j I've lost track of the number of times I've lost my house keys...
Mine are attached to my mobile phone. I lose them frequently (although only at home, not out and about) so I like to be able to use the landline to phone the mobile so that I can hear where the keys are.PasturesNew wrote: »You've yet to discover the joys of hideous workmen hitting on you .... workmen in your own home are careless, insensitive, blokey ... and hit on you.
You are obviously sexier than I am. No workmen have ever done that to me. (Although a used car salesman did once.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? BT update. Right ... it's set to be 28th. I said it doesn't look like I've a socket as the thing I've got doesn't have an "innard" for the plug to fit into. That'll need an engineer.... but then I decided to try to take the socket off the wall to see what's behind it.
Inside it the socket part exists, but isn't staying put.... imagine a letterbox where the indoor flap has remained open most of the way ... so I tried to poke it about, but I don't know what I'm touching, or if it's dangerous in there..... but the socket does fit the bt plug.
Then I tried to get the socket screwed back to the wall... having a major failure with that. Holding curtains out of the way/over my head, crouched down in the corner, sweating like anything, on tippy toes while squatting in front of the socket .... screws are different sizes, tried two screwdrivers, can't get the socket back in place.
So I've left it for now ... I'll have another go when I've cooled down a bit. Really needs a different screwdriver.... but worried in case I poke about in the socket area that I'll be touching something I shouldn't, then be deemed to have "broken" it so incur a £129 charge.0 -

Probably the kids put them off
Some men see single women as easy meat .... single mothers are a different beast for them to tackle.... as they're not really sure what's gone on/going on.0 -
BT phoned again, I explained about the socket and she said she's booked an engineer to come and sort it out on Monday morning.
So, hopefully, I'll have it all sorted Monday, just 18 days after my first service moving date was originally booked for.0 -
Could rope, like natural rope, be safely 'attached' to lighting flex or would the fire/heat risk be too great?0

I think we are. About to lose another ceiling ( one below 'old' bathroom)
Collective np willpower please that it stays up till at least Sunday.0 -
Well I stuck to my end of the family bargain and have done few chores today, but I did go to the beach.
I went on my own, didn't take the duppy. I had thought I would feel guilty but it was the right decision as I set off just after noon and it would have been too hot for him.
It was very civilised, the tide was out but west wittering beach dips so you get a lagoon to swim in. I had my mat to myself and did not have to share it with a soggy sandy dog. No one pawed me and caused scratches. I drank iced coffee and ate a picnic of last nights BBQ leftovers without anyone drooling. All in all a success.0 -

At what point, since you first viewed this house, did you think these two ceilings would "need doing?" Right at the start? After survey? Once you'd been there a week? ..... or Never, they were fine until the last few weeks?0 -
