If OH has to go somewhere early, as he did this morning (left at 6.30am) I don't get up with him! Baby or no baby.
Bombing hospitals - bad idea. Very bad idea. No matter what's next to them. Hiding war stuff in hospitals - very nasty thing to do. No winners, there.
That bunch, who live in Sderot, are the most extreme religious lot among OH's extended family. 9 children, now - 1 boy, 8 girls. Or it could be 8, 1 boy and 7 girls. There's definitely only one boy, though. They are really quite nuts - they moved *to* Sderot, which has been under rocket fire from Gaza on and off for many years, to show that Israelis can't be intimidated. It's one thing not moving away, but moving into a target zone is very strange IMO.
I think the danger and damage to the children, in particular, is psychological as much as physical? The family I mention above are really nervy. They live most of their lives prepared to leg it to an air-raid shelter at any moment.
Perhaps they give long eulogies on the subject, and you don't pay sufficient attention?
I agree that bombing hospitals is ghastly. I think that's by mistake, but perhaps that's just my wishful thinking.
It's clearly equally imbecile behaviour on both sides of the struggle. The UN complained that they found 20 rockets hidden in one of their schools the other day.
I had lunch in Sderot this time last year. Fantastic falafel. Of course, you couldn't relax there now. It must be miserable. The government must be under intense pressure to 'do something', when doing nothing at all may be the best course. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Bugs, what is killing off the birds at present?
Last Thursday when it was very hot a delivery driver carried several heavy boxes in, and I offered him a cold drink.
He was mid 20's black guy. I had this awful moment when I felt I needed to explain, it was just "an act of courtesy to a fellow human on a hot day". Dignity prevailed I did not explain. He declined saying he was running late.
Misunderstanding can cut both ways, and I wonder if he posted somewhere about a rather hot 50 something hitting on him?
I have no idea Spirit, I think two of the blackbirds had flown into the window. they were both definitely dead by the time I shovelled them up. We dont' get cats in our garden; the dogs would only attempt to greet them with great excitement, but from a feline perspective, it may look more like imminent death.;)
I fixed the mumsy bit for you:p0 -

Not nice at all. We really were shocked awake. The real deal in the act of springing out of bed. Then I was too wide awake to go back to sleep so I emptied teh dishwasher and hung the washing out, made mint tea. After OH had gone I returned to bed and slept until 9.30:)
It sounds awful..putting your children into a constant state of high anxiety to fulfil an idealogical stance. I think it is child abuse . They are other ways to learn/teach important lessons.
OH will not have much time for sight seeing . He is driving from Fumicino (airport) . Taxi, airport Brekkie of smoked salmon & eggs at Jamie Olivers, plane, car, meeting, car, food (he hopes but may not be possible) , plane, taxi.0 -

I'd like to go to the garden centre.
Hmm. Ok. Not what I imagined, but ok.0 -
I did a Lidl run .... and, as my underwear, tops, jumpers ... well, everything, are all in piles or plastic bags in my bedroom (well, deflated airbed room) ... I bought this: http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-2491.htm?action=showDetail&id=14596
Bl00dy heavy! Got to unpack it by undoing the box while it's still in the boot of the car0 -
Thanks for asking NDG:). Foot is fine now.
I had been a bit under the weather for, well most of this year actually. Finally after nearly keeling over a few times, I went to the docs and it turns out I'm anaemic, so no big deal, but iron supplements for the next 3 months. Starting to feel better already.
?:D
Will say the obvious....eat well and keep in mind you must balance the side effects of the iron.
How do mostly vegans get enough iron usually?0 -
It had better be a worthwhile meeting, then! (Spirit's OH.)No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

I think it is wishful thinking. When one side are deliberately storing weapons in hospitals and schools, I don't know what the other side is meant to do?It's clearly equally imbecile behaviour on both sides of the struggle. The UN complained that they found 20 rockets hidden in one of their schools the other day.
Allegedly the UN then returned the rockets to Hamas!!!I had lunch in Sderot this time last year. Fantastic falafel. Of course, you couldn't relax there now. It must be miserable. The government must be under intense pressure to 'do something', when doing nothing at all may be the best course.
I think that is the problem Sderot has been under fire for years, at what point does action need to be taken?
About time Egypt opened its border with Gaza and allowed civilians safe passage out.
Guess where we were meant to be going on holiday this Summer?
After overspending on California last year and with the potential of a trip to Australia in Autumn (which now looks unlikely), we decided to save money this Summer. Cheap holiday - with only the taxes on Avios flights to pay for.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Well 'proper' vegans, will get enough iron from plant sources. vegans are no more likely to suffer iron deficiency than animal eaters.
I'm very partial to lentils for example which has 2.9 mg of iron per 100 calories, versus steak at 0.9mg. Spinach of course has 15.5 mg, though it's less chomping to eat a 100 calories of meat than leaf. i have started adding spinach to everything bar porridge;)
However, I think it's more to do with my age/hormones - lets skip the finer details:o0
