99% of the time the rule applies of: "If you buy it and it comes into the house, you have to eat it all...."
We have some. I don't always make stock from carcasses. Often I keep them, but some times it don't, e.g. Duck bones, pork bones.
I don't add cooked food LO to compost heap and those which aren't dog safe ( onion or garlic containing) go in a bag in the freezer. I chuck garlic in their skins in often, or onions, so we often have garlic skins in the freezer.0 -
Sorry, I assumed too much.
Up at silly o clock as his taxi is due at 5.30am, but the sound of a car pulling up outside woke us with a start...no idea what that was about but we both sprang out of bed with a start thinking OH had overslept.
You are truly a nice person, Spirit.
If OH has to go somewhere early, as he did this morning (left at 6.30am) I don't get up with him! Baby or no baby.Poor Isaac, poor kids.
I saw the news item on the bombed hospital and felt real anger. I know proximity to 'legitimate' goals is an issue but think targets such as this should be international war crimes if used as screens or attacked, by either side.
Bombing hospitals - bad idea. Very bad idea. No matter what's next to them. Hiding war stuff in hospitals - very nasty thing to do. No winners, there.PasturesNew wrote: »It is relentless, news coverage these days. Hard to avoid. Must be difficult when the places are known to you.
That bunch, who live in Sderot, are the most extreme religious lot among OH's extended family. 9 children, now - 1 boy, 8 girls. Or it could be 8, 1 boy and 7 girls. There's definitely only one boy, though. They are really quite nuts - they moved *to* Sderot, which has been under rocket fire from Gaza on and off for many years, to show that Israelis can't be intimidated. It's one thing not moving away, but moving into a target zone is very strange IMO.I worry about my friends in Israel, but the truth is that they are in not all that much danger. Stress, discomfort, inconvenience - they have that in spades. They are forever running for the shelter. Even if the rocket is shot down, there's a rain of shrapnel falling from a height.
I think the danger and damage to the children, in particular, is psychological as much as physical? The family I mention above are really nervy. They live most of their lives prepared to leg it to an air-raid shelter at any moment.
Oddly, none of the drivers have mentioned anything about it being Etuscan;)
Perhaps they give long eulogies on the subject, and you don't pay sufficient attention?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
We run from Barcelona into Italy regularly, usually into Genoa as we deliver into Turin, but occasionally the ferry timings don't work at all and therefore we run into Civitavecchia, which does add about 300 miles from memory onto the trip.
Oddly, none of the drivers have mentioned anything about it being Etuscan;)
They probably think it's far too obvious to mention.0 -
To day we are having a day of ( fir is here!!). I said, well my beloved, what of all things would you like to do today.
He said.....
I'd like to go to the garden centre.
Hmm. Ok. Not what I imagined, but ok.0 -

Are you all mended, Bugs? No limps or pains?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Thanks for asking NDG:). Foot is fine now.
I had been a bit under the weather for, well most of this year actually. Finally after nearly keeling over a few times, I went to the docs and it turns out I'm anaemic, so no big deal, but iron supplements for the next 3 months. Starting to feel better already.
From what I've seen, Kermie is thriving?:D0 -
My bin is a mortuary - it contains three blackbirds and two sparrows. Every morning I have to do a sweep of the garden first to make sure there is nothing else dead before the mutts start running round with a trophy hanging from their mouths:(
Me niether chewie. You've obviously got pulling power PN!
Bugs, what is killing off the birds at present?
Last Thursday when it was very hot a delivery driver carried several heavy boxes in, and I offered him a cold drink.
He was mid 20's black guy. I had this awful moment when I felt I needed to explain, it was just "an act of courtesy to a fellow human on a hot day". Dignity prevailed I did not explain. He declined saying he was running late.
Misunderstanding can cut both ways, and I wonder if he posted somewhere about a rather mumsy 50 something hitting on him?0 -

Perfectly normal for me to descend in cotton dressing gown and go out and move the cars around. To do this usually involves me driving up the road, chucking a U turn in the entrance to the woods, coming back and parking on the road or back on the drive if another car has gone out.
Pastures I think your standards are too high.:)0 -
lostinrates wrote: »My bin too. I noticed yesterday a dodgy smell, looked and yes it had Waggots. I only put food waste out the night before ( I freeze it till then) so its just grim bin they've been attracted too. Next week after its been collected I guess it better have a really good clean. Sadly this is not a job I will find easy practically. Also, despite being hardy about most things, Waggots are something I dislike a lot. They are a little less offensive called Waggots than if you don't flip the first letter of their name upside down. But not much.
Last year we had waggots crawling out of the bin.
I managed to shovel a load of them and then let the chooks enjoy the bounty.
Jeyes fluid solved the rest.0
