NHS list for iron says liver, meat, beans, nuts, dried fruit, such as dried apricots, wholegrains, such as brown rice, fortified breakfast cereals, soybean flour, most dark-green leafy vegetables, such as watercress and curly kale

    http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vitamins-minerals/Pages/Iron.aspx

Of that lot I regularly eat beans (baked variety) and nuts (salted peanuts).

It says women should have 14.8mg of iron/day. I've no idea how much that is, I've no idea how much is in the stuff I eat ... I've never been "aware" of iron ... nor any other of the confusing/long list of dietary stuff you're supposed to have daily.

    Poor Isaac, poor kids.

I saw the news item on the bombed hospital and felt real anger. I know proximity to 'legitimate' goals is an issue but think targets such as this should be international war crimes if used as screens or attacked, by either side.

Are Israeli rockets/missiles accurate enough to pinpoint a hospital? I know that UK missiles can be very precise, but AFAIK, Israel are using Israeli or American weaponry, which I know nothing about.

I eat plenty of nuts and beans and some prunes, they are very high on the ORAC scale.

If I could ditch the frys creme bar and the oreos I'd be so healthy. :rotfl:And thin.

Physical health is one thing, but mental well-being's important too.

I'd call that a balanced diet, things that are good for you and things that are not.

BT update... nothing to report. Not had a call, not had an email, not got phone/broadband. Still 'trapped' in the house as I daren't miss an unannounced engineer visit.

I know nothing, really, but gaza is so compact that I doubt that any battlefield weapons are precise enough. Plus, never forget the scope for FUBARs. I am sure there are loads of those.

In comparison with what has happened in the past, the death toll is comparatively light. For example, 50,000 French civilians were killed by allied bombers in the days following the Normandy D-Day landings. This is not to say that what's happening in Gaza is okay, just that it could be an awful lot more awful.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

What I mostly like about that is that it's not only affordable, ahem, but it's available off the shelf. Makes it sound as if you could pop down to Waitrose and get one...... But the key point is accuracy against a moving target; hospitals are rather obviously static.

I'd be surprised if that level of accuracy wasn't available with an American missile; of course, they do indeed go walkabout occasionally.

I've always had the idea that Hamas have a more scattergun approach.

Extreme levels of accuracy are available with some missiles. Extreme.

I have learnt amazing intelligent, reasonable people behave oddly over the Israel /gaga situation and discussion about it. Its one of the very rare times I don't comment. But, very few reflect well. Its a great big mess and not many people should feel that proud I think.
