Well I stuck to my end of the family bargain and have done few chores today, but I did go to the beach.

I went on my own, didn't take the duppy. I had thought I would feel guilty but it was the right decision as I set off just after noon and it would have been too hot for him.

It was very civilised, the tide was out but west wittering beach dips so you get a lagoon to swim in. I had my mat to myself and did not have to share it with a soggy sandy dog. No one pawed me and caused scratches. I drank iced coffee and ate a picnic of last nights BBQ leftovers without anyone drooling. All in all a success.

I've got a little tent.... wish I'd looked more at pop up tents, but the one I've got's not too hard.

I can't sit in the sun, it's also good as you get some protection from people running past a beach towel and flicking sand.... and, it's got a drop down groundsheet, which zips up .... great if you're going to go in the water as, from a distance, you're watching a whole tent and not a beach towel + goods.

At what point, since you first viewed this house, did you think these two ceilings would "need doing?" Right at the start? After survey? Once you'd been there a week? ..... or Never, they were fine until the last few weeks?

Theoreticacally the one that came down last week shouldn't have had to. It wasn't original but it was very, very old.

Aesthetically I'm pleased, though, we would have chosen to do it as one job with some more substantial work ( that room and what you think of as the kitchen both need plastering, the opening between widened, the floor sorted ( we're toting with digging down in there to put underfloor heating in with out raising height in room under secret dwarf room, but realise that's significant expenditure, but its a room with only one bit of wall space and we need that for our side board, so no room for a heater!

The ceiling in other room ( the bit you think of as kitchen) was ok when we arrived, went wrong.....um, shortly after RP arrived, but don't think there is a connection really. Stopped for a long while , started again.

Once the new bathroom is finished we can rip out old and see how bad things really look. I'm going foe seriously grim. Feels bad under foot, where as the stuff we had to do work on last year felt ok.

    Everything crossed for you.

What is causing this? presumably these ceilings have been up for many yeasr, what has happened in recent weeks that makes them want to drop?

    Water. Water. Water.

Indoor plumbing causes lots of damage. I reckon its the modern version of things like chimney fires or what ever used to destroy people's homes. :D

Er... if you're eating insect, how do you, um, (how to put this politely?) evacuate the insects bowels so you're not eating insect excrement?
