Er... if you're eating insect, how do you, um, (how to put this politely?) evacuate the insects bowels so you're not eating insect excrement?

I've heard arguments that insect meat is the most efficient way of generating meat without wasting water. The microbes they carry aren't usually pathogenic for us.

    Anyhoo, here's a nice article. http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/artful-amoeba/2012/03/30/the-surprising-culinary-delight-of-honeydew-aka-plant-bug-poo/

    Love the necklace.

Ohh, that thing on her lip. I thought she had a pimple, but it's self inflicted. Judgmental? Me?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I'd nodded off. Soooo hot, can barely move. Turned it over now.

£3kjust for that rope bridge thing.

£700 for the BBQ. Nautical day bed's probably a fortune too ....

Total budget, including people's probably not far off £10-20k
I'm hoping to complete mine in 2-3 years for about £100.

I've got ideas and checked out prices .... but don't post it all here as it's not interesting to others :)

Just earlier this evening, I was checking out the prices of solar powered water fountain gubbins ... I plan to plonk one of those in a corner and then hand-build a pile of shells and sea glass around it, so water tumbles down/through those.

    Inspiration pn, not copying.

They did use shells ( strewn in with the stones) but didn't seen to refer to them at all. Drift wood you could get for free I'm guessing. ( I can give you stuff that looks like drift wood if not). :)

I'm watching 56up. I've seen some of the programmes over the years and find it interesting. (ITV)

Driftwood can be tricky. Not all beaches have it, then there's size.... and if you find a great bit, it's too big to lug off the beach and to the car :)

I do plan some shell/driftwood wind chimes, but so far I've only got about 3-4 small pieces of driftwood (about the size of 1/3rd of a stick of rock each).

I'll hold you to that offer for "something that looks like" :)

I have to admit, I have even been that slob who collects husband from station in night wear and a jacket/ jumper.

I once picked OH up from the station wearing generic sheepskin boots and a onesie. When we got back we walked past our upstairs neighbour was standing out the front having a cigarette in his dressing gown and slippers!

I turned up a bit after the doors opened (but still on time, it was being recorded very nearby) and I think they had already pestered everyone for their question sheets. And I didn't have a pen with me.

But I had a lucky escape as I'd forgotten it would have meant my voice being recorded (which I enjoy as much as having a photo taken). And being asked for my name + surname (which I wouldn't have wanted to give, but probably would have failed to think of a pseudonym).

But my guess at an answer to your question is that if insects were being used as a mainstream foodstuff, I'd think they'd be bred under controlled/ sterile conditions, so it wouldn't really matter.

If they were 'wild' I'd be more concerned about what else they were carrying as opposed to their excrement.

I saw some when I was strolling round Home Bargains, seeing what they had in there last week .... I have thought of getting one as I seem to have a single fly going up and down under the centre of the living room about 3-4x a day.

I'm not sure whether I should be investing in one then living in hope that I'll also find a suitable operator!

There are a few flies around here (I tend to leave the back doors open when I'm in the house if it's not raining), but they are waaaay outnumbered by spiders.
