It was sticky hot yesterday and we had a storm overnight. Today it was sticky and hot again, the storm did no good. now it is raining again.

    Thanks for the kind offer.
As someone who has thus far failed to procreate, or secure the services of someone with a Y chromosome who will char foodstuffs over hot coals for me, I'm more looking for someone to burn my dinner whilst maintaining a level of rawness on the inside whilst I've got my feet up supping a beer/ G+T/ Pimms/ drink of choice. That's got to be the main advantage of being childless - the ability to have a drink or two as you're not responsible for anyone else?

Or at the very least someone sitting here with their feet up supping a beer/ G+T/ Pimms/ drink of choice whilst I'm burning their dinner yet maintaining a level of rawness on the inside.

I'm happy to do babysitting for my usual hourly rate of pay + travel expenses.

Nah, part of parenting is to teach your children about alcohol. That there are times to abstain eg driving, times when a drink is Ok eg being responsible for kids and times when you can plan to drink more than the legal limit. Best teaching is by example.

By your parents drinking responsibly, yes. Not by getting some random lush from t'interweb over!

Funnily enough, we did that tonight - OH decided that his Indian would benefit from an accompanying cold beer. We had a bottle of Becks in the fridge that came from somewhere (the label tells me it's 3.2 UK units, 600ml) and OH had 2/3rds, I had 1/3rd, and Isaac had a sip and didn't like it at all.

So alcohol for him is something he doesn't really fancy, not something forbidden and exciting.

I went to the shops and to get petrol tonight. The sky got ominously dark. I wondered if I would have got the laundry back indoors before the deluge but DW had got home and done it by the time I got back.

Took the dog out immediately and he did his business just before the first drops started to fall. Just made it back before the heavens opened.

You're making an assumption that there is a 1:1 relationship between the number of _s and the number of letters. Nowhere in PN's post is that stipulated.

Speaking of things nearly on topic. I was reading one of those my house has gone up by a million percent threads couple of weeks ago, so I happened to look at zoopla. Next door (not the ones I share a driveway with) is SSTC (no signs have gone up). Speaking to Mr. LovelyNeighbour this evening, apparently our local councillor is buying it. I've passed him a few times (there is a monthly 'meet your councillor' thingy on a nearby street corner). Was slightly worried I'd end up with wild student parties next door. He doesn't look very wild. I'm now more concerned that I'm going to end up on the front page of the local rag as some feral neighbour from hell

Going to bed. Kermie is apparently deciding to settle down for the night earlier than usual, which is good news for me! He's already showing signs of being a slightly better sleeper than Isaac was (not difficult, that) although as he's only 9 weeks old, he still wakes up often. He's now 6.5 cm longer and 3 lb 9 oz heavier than he was at birth.

I was in court today, and it feels really, really strange to be doing it. Very odd indeed, a totally different "me-ness" shift. Then I got home and snuggled up to Kermie until Isaac and OH got home from the Airshow.

Tomorrow OH is going to the funeral of his mother's friend / friend's mother (both) and will be out all day from about 9am until late. It'll be by quite a way the longest time I've had both boys on my own - last weekend, when OH did the London to Dunwich bike ride, I went to Kent.

I've clearly got it pretty easy - Isaac, now at the age of 9, is actually more help here than not here, but he can get a bit fed up if Kermie's fussy for ages.

Edited to add - I was wrong about Kermie settling down early. He's starting to squeak again already.

Apologies. A large part of my job atm is making assumptions explicit (as in open, as opposed to unsuitable for persons of a delicate disposition).
Should have known better. Just because I managed to fill in the gaps using 1:1 doesn't mean that is the right answer...
