Now I can price up this for the garden space: http://www.decorativeaggregate-uk.co.uk/products.htm - scallops.

That'd be the front area.... and for the back garden I'll go and gather sea shells on the sea shore, bucketful by bucketful over time. Have bike + panniers .... gathering shells :)

House all looking a bit better apart from our room.( which looks worse )

We found two more vacuums which I knew were some where. One is the new Miele RP bought and has now killed ( has been repaired twice) and one is non RP's unneeded spared Miele. So. Now have four mieles.

New mile RP bought and has been hiding in room in a box. This caused a row because I asked not to buy a vacuum bause fir and I were going to buy some thing different this time.

Old new Miele (. 2 years old I think) which has been a bit if a disappointment but which because RP didn't return to Miele but a local repair place is our problem). Not sure what we should do with it, I know what I want to do with it.

Functional but older Miele which I think should become upstairs Miele

Functional But very disreputable Miele, no cover or lid, very very old, has something stuck in hose, I think hose should be cleared and this kept as spare in barn for when repairs/ services are being done.

I feel inadequate as we only have one Miele vacuum cleaner. Should I be buying some more?!

I haven't bought any. That's part of my gripe really, I wanted to buy the vacuum I wanted. I want or make my own home , you know?

Two of them are older than big dog, one is older I think than big dogs grandmother would hve been. MYbe even another generation.

The new ones, one is a flop.

We have an upstairs one and a down stairs one, becUse if I do find myself vacuuming, I'm not meant to lift it, and its always easier to have one up and one down any way. When we built up I suppose one of the ancients can be the very upstairs vacuum and that leaves us with only one spare and slightly more normal, but I ,d really be prepared to do without a spare in that situation.

I bought my OK vacuum from Lidl recently. Seems to do the job, but I've no reference point to know if others would do a better/different job.

I'd like to stick second newest on ebay but it would start a war. ( actually, I'd like to get it fixed and give it to some one on the understanding it had a chequered history).

I would like newest never to have arrived. I'd be happy with oldest limping on and the one non RP gave me while DH and I decided what WE wanted to do. If oldest had died and we had one working vacuum I don't think the sky would have fallen. To end up with four is ridiculous and the kind of thing that is frequently upsetting me. Its just.....wasteful. Of money, of space, of resources, and of the energy I have trying to sort out what to do with this stuff that no one will get rid of.

DH won't throw stuff away, RP's room is like a hoards room now( RP is in a room with a fire place you cannot see because its got all boxes in front of it) .

DH and I share a 'knicker' drawer. I have less than half of it. Ok, men's pants are sturdier, but I have to get bras in there too. I'm feeling squeezed out.

You've a lot of space/land .... it might be worthwhile considering and pricing up getting a shipping container and insulating it for safe storage of "stuff" .... "stuff others don't wish you to chuck out but that gets in your way".

Lot of hassle, I know. Probably cost about £1000 to get on site, then a bit for insulating it .... but it'd be an "asset" if you sold in the future and, for now, somewhere to put people's stuff.

Alternatively - get PP on the building next to your drive .... and move in there :)

We can stick stuff in the barn, stuff like vacuums. But the problem Is that its not agreed what isn't daily/ weekly necessity.

The lightbulbs were agreed after the heftiest amount of sighing and pouting and carrying on. Some ( all with filaments gone) were bought at the hard ware shop local to parents before I was born. That means they have been moved more times I can count. Doubt they traveled the world, probably were in tea nests in uk. :D

But I DON 'T WAnT TO LIVE LIKE THIS. :o As a miser I am always keen to see things well used or not thrown away to soon, but I also want to live, and enjoy stuff, and there is a difference between keeping to use and keeping and not being able to get to stuff/ knowing what you have/whatever.

DH has made big progress, but I strongly feel more storage ( outside) isn't the answer. We do need to properly fit utility soon, and sort out storage in boiler area, and study etc, because it will help a lot, and make every thing pleasant and able to progress, but that's a different issue really.

I dislike mushrooms, marmite and aubergines.

The All you can eat didn't have mushrooms. There were sausages, bacon, fried eggs, hash browns (although a little flat), baked beans, halved grilled tomatoes, panfried bits of potato and bacon in a creamy sauce. No tinned tomatoes, no mushrooms, no scrambled eggs. Also, toast with jams/marmalades. Go back as many times as you like..... I went once .... I'm telling no tales of others.

I wanted to take DS yesterday but it's closed for refurbishment. Last time we went, cousin didn't want refill coffee so used his coffee mug as a cola refill instead.

DS and I ended up in a new little cafe in the village instead. I was pleased as it is very cute - they have a fully laid table, complete with wired up lamps attached to the ceiling. It's dedicated to Alice in Wonderland and I have a serious desire for anything related so I'll be spending more time in there! It's only a greasy spoon type affair, so inexpensive.
