Gettingready look in your app store for the app 'run double' you get the first 2 weeks of C25k free and thrn for I think £1 you get access to endless runs and training. I can't reccomend it enough.

W7R1 done. I smashed it! I'm running faster and further than last time I did it. Nearly completed it. 10k seems do able now.

Cupofchai - my dog broke my nose and now I have super sinus issues and the runniest nose ever. It is so annoying on a run! I can't even breath through my nose on a run!

Lots of people get the runny nose thing. Apparently it's a side effect of increased circulation.

Hoping to do W7R2 tomorrow AM before work. Am going away next weekend and have been looking up running routes for whilst I'm gone.

New shoes are becoming a necessity, I'm getting blisters and my current shoes are probably 5 years old.

Hurray!! Went out for a test run (no pun intended!) on my knee yesterday and it was fine!! Was a bit stiff a few hours later and today but nothing like the actual pain that stopped me running in the first place.

Going to go every other day and drop back a week in the podcasts to build it back up again but I'm back!! I've also found some core-strengthening classes REALLY close to my home in a place I didn't even know existed so going to go and watch a class on Monday and hopefully start after that if I like what I see. A few people I've spoken to and quite a lot of things I've read say that knee problems CAN (not ARE.. but CAN) be caused by core weakness, glute weakness, meaning all the pressure is taken on the knee. It's not like I can LOSE anything by strengthening those muscles.

Onwards and upwards (though maybe ACTUAL upwards ie hills.. will be a few weeks in the future!).

    W7R2 done!!

Last time I did this run (22nd Jan) i managed 1.98 miles and today I managed 2.10 miles!

I feel so much fitter and better, I just need to learn to ignore the scales and focus on what my body can do.
  • Hello, hope you don't mind me joining you. I've just started c25k I'm on W1R2, Jo Pavey has inspired my to finally get off my bum and stop being lazy! I've lost 4st with Slimming World and hope to lose another stone and get fitter in the process.

Well, I didn't manage to do w2r1 yesterday, so when my kitties woke me at 6am(face palm weekend lie in) rather than just fud them and open a window, I did my run.

There's a big change from 1 min to 90 seconds...

I didn't feel it with the first couple of runs, but by the second to last I was really struggling - not with my legs... They actually felt fine, but with my breathing and stamina I think.

I guess my body is fitter than my heart and lungs.

Easyas123 - keep at it! You'll be amazed at how much and how quickly you improve!

W7R3 done! It was tough but I put that down to being slightly hungover. Quite amazing I just got up and went running normally if I feel a bit rough I'd find some excuse not to go, but I wanted to get out there today.
  • i am on week 6 of my 10k training plan now. The 10k is just 6 weeks away . I am progressing at a good rate and although i am not at the stage where i can say i am enjoying running i am definatley not dreading it when run day comes around.

Yesterday i had to run 3 x 8 minute stretches - i was feeling quite anxious about this as the longest stretch i had previously run was 5 minutes. Turns out i didnt need to worry as i managed 8 minutes without too much stress. My next run involves 3 x 7 minutes stretches with a 2 minute walk in between. :D
