Couch to 5k Running - Part Four Beginners Running

Hiya Guys,

Feel free to shoot me if I am wrong ;) but I searched for 'Couch to 5k running' thread and it hasn't been posted on in over 4 months?

I am going to give this a shot ~ complete beginner, have two kids so I will be getting up at 6am before OH starts getting ready for work and going out....I never really liked the idea of running in plain slight so I think it also works out quite well that not to many people are out at that time in the morning. :D .. but being on Maternity leave I haven't got up to an alarm in the last year. :o

Anyone else want to join? The App I found tells you when to start and stop whilst listening to music but costs £1.99 after the first week..I figure if I get the first week done I wouldn't mind paying out for it but we'll see.. theirs another free one but doesn't seem as good although I guess they all do the same thing!

Thinking I will do set days..Mon Wed Fri.

Lovely for people to join so we can get motivated to do it!!

I am doing a couch to 10k programme (its 12 weeks in total) and am on week 2. So far so good :).

I have been mostly doing my runs on the treadmill but have done a couple outside - think i prefer the former due to the aircon .

Good luck with your programme :D

Ahh I wish I had a treadmill but saying that I'd probably still have same problem. I was thinking I could start today by trying it out in the front room... but as soon as I went to start my 2 year old started hugging my legs and thought it was a game....soooo perhaps Monday morning after all!!

    Did you start from nothing?

We used this app. It's totally free and you can listen to your own music, they do a 10k one as well.

My wife started c25k last August, and from being a total couch potato and doing absolutely no exercise, has done the Race for Life 10k and just entered her first half marathon.

She really has the running bug now and gets up at 5am to jog 5k before getting ready for work .

Tar I've got that one now, looks about the same thing :-) Looking forward to Monday and actually being able to say I've started.

Infact I've decided to get ready to start tomorrow, will be getting up at 6am into my 'running gear' putting my tunes on and going for a half hour walk..perhaps a bit of running if I feel up for it but it's more just about getting out the house for half an hour to start me off before I officially start on Monday. :-)

Done the first one, I just plugged it in and thought I'd just do bits but did the whole thing bar the last 5 min cool down..but that's because I got home early. Can't say it was easy at times I think I got a slower pace towards the end which made it easier as their were times I just wanted to sit down in the middle. :o

I wasn't going to go out till 6 but I was lying in bed at 5am this morning worrying myself, I've had a bit of anxiety since I've been round house last 2 years with kids (maternity leave back to back) and I thought I was over it but I was sat their thinking I don't want to go out XXX might happen (not actually bothered about the running part as much as I thought i would be :D)

I turned around a bit early because their were loads of lads on the park..not just one group but 3? Not sure why up all night drinking who knows?? Bit strange.

Gutted I don't have a running thread buddy but on plus side OH has agreed for every (agreed day can't run 7 days a week as it won't count:rotfl:) day I go out running he won't drink. :T:T:T:T

& now to get my eBay orders up to date for the first Saturday ever as the kids are in bed and then off to the post box...wooo!! :D

Well I'm planning on going out tomorrow but might move it to Tuesday due to my legs being so sore & achey will update I just think an extra day of rest will do be some good..wouldn't be able to do it if I went out now.

Wonder how many times I'll need to do this before they don't ache like this !!

Will update tomorrow. Fingers crossed I am not in to much pain tomorrow!

Hello, can I join you please. I have a three year old and am on maternity leave with my 3months old DD. Getting married in 3 months (bought dress super cheap when pregnant) and want to get fit again. Also aiming for a 10 next summer. Plus I want to use the running as a bit of me time after a day of chores and kids. Is there an actual app c25k? Will have a look.

Been out tonight for my first run in about 4 years and did 25 min walking and running but not sure how far.
