W8R2 completed! I'm technically on holiday at the moement so had no running map routed out as I have NO idea where I am.

It was really tough, I think because I haven't run since Tuesday. But I managed 2.3 miles, gonna need to pick up the pace to get 5k done in 30 minutes next week!

Don't worry too much about doing the 5k in 30, the plan is to get you jogging/running either 5k or for 30 mins ;).

It's been quite a while since I finished the c25k and even though I often do upto 10k I still only just break the 30min mark for 5K. (Plan on getting quicker as I lose more weight ;))

I finished the program and then jogged for 30mins until it was quite comfortable then stretched out the distance until i was running 5k regardless of how long it took.

Thanks :-) I'm not too fussed, the main thing is I can run for 30 minutes non stop, and that in itself is a great achievement.

I completed it once before, and then started up to 10k training, but then just stopped, but that's my intention again, and then to eventually run a half marathon next year.

I know I could run faster too, but someone really needs to be chasing me for that to happen!!

    I assume 5k is 5 km?

Had a little test last night, just to see how the new (yeah, I know LOL) trainers feel....

Right - few questions if you all don't mind and if someone is still awake?

Do you run in the mornings or evenings?

I feel morning would be difficult for me as got a lot to sort out before leaving for work, already have to get up at 6ish and would not cope very well with having to get up any earlier than that.

Do you run on pavement or grass areas?

I am very lucky as have a massive green open space just a minute from where I live but then again depending on the time/light - may not be able to use it later on in the year.

Do you carry water with you?

Got a bottle 300ml bottle, specific for running myself - easy to hold.

Any stretching before/after? No idea about that - is the 5 min warm up/cool down walk enough?

Any advice before my first proper run tomorrow? It will be my first ever so....

Planning on Mon, Wed, Fri - anyone else doing those days?

    Txs

I'm starting again tomorrow...can't sleep well but not going to make excuses. Will update.

I just prefer mornings because I don't like running with a lot of people around, it really doesn't matter.

I run to the park ~ but by the time I get their, the half an hour is already about 10-12min though...so yea pavement 90% of the time as even the park is pavement all the way round but I like just running out into the middle of it...cause im cool that way.

Never bothered with water I drink when I get back if needed...I think for half an hour I wouldn't bother THAT said I never got past the end of week 2 the last time I did this...so perhaps it might be a bit more needed as you go on?

I would stretch ..it saves soreness the day after, I did the warm up walk before hand and was in pain for about three days after..the 2nd run I did only about half a day and wasn't that bad at all...call it getting used to it slightly or that I did stretchs the 2nd time with advice from here..who knows? I still will do it in the morning

And I will be doing Monday Wed Friday :-)

    Yes 5k = 5 km

I still run on treadmill and whenever I get chance as I work nights.

My wife who runs outside, much further and more often than me runs early morning, getting up at 5am . She prefers it as it is quieter and cooler.

She is on roads/paths so has had her gait analised and got appropriate trainers (not too expensive from Decathlon).

She carries water for the "shorter" runs (up to 10k) and has sports type drink for longer runs.

Doesn't stretch before but has a short warm up walk and cool down walk after, she also has a foam roller (bloody painful!) which she uses and does a circuit training DVD (30 day shred) which includes stretches etc.

    Good luck.
