Thank you for your replies -they have helped a lot. Lost it big style yesterday cups flying
and lots of tears. We talked and talked and I am trying hard to get on with it. He will be moving to a rented house soon. I am taking each day as it comes- today is sunny so going to walk the dog and do some washing (not his which he had thrown in wash tub:p) then have nice bath and wash hair. It might take all day but no rush.
My next problem is how to tell Mum she is carer for dad who has parkinsons and he is very unwell at the moment. Might leave that for another day.
Take care everybody and thank you again better get the dog out sun going fast.

If you think you might be too muttony for this at 50 I must be dead meat:rotfl: I am 65 only 5 4 but with slim legs, thighs and bum and I would wear this in an instant.
As fairylights said, black tights and chunky boots and statement jewelery , another way would be a really "Audrey" look with black tights, black fine wool cardi/shrug, patent shoes and pearls, really retro and sophisticated. Go for it.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -

Went to see my mum - she was totally unresponsive, eyes shut tight, hands clenched in fists. I stroked her face and she seemed to,like that, other than that, nothing. Don't know whether she knew I was there or not....... So so sad.
Then when I got home had a call from SIL to say that FIL had been admitted to a nursing home today.
Double whammy...... As for my dad he looks like a cadaver, God knows how his legs support him. He is stick thin and looks so frail.
I feel like a wet dishcloth tonight. I have a dreadful rash on my neck, shoulders and chest. Just stress of course, but it's quite painful and very uncomfortable. My neck glands are the size of golf balls. :rotfl:
Only one thing for it.
Going to,light the fire and some candles and just snuggle down with a warming supper of chilli and a glass of vino and just try and relax.
Tomorrow is another day.
Tremendous amount of stress for you LL. Take care x0 -

Good for you, I like it, it's fun......
Katiecat - vent away. Let rip - what's a few broken cups between friends. He should be thankful that's all you broke.
My mother once threw a carving knife at my dad, he ducked just in time. She threw it with such force it stuck in a solid oak sideboard.....I never did find out what he had done to upset her, it must have been bad because she was such a gentle and sweet natured person - until crossed and then her Mediterranean temprement took over.
Apparently I'm similar - can't see it myself. But Both my boys and my OH have been known to call me Vesuvius.........
Anyway had a much better day today, the sunshine helped it was lovely and warm here. Tonight I went to a special promotion evening at a local spa, had a lovely facial and then they did a bit of a makeup. The facial was lovely, but the makeup wasn't my cup of tea. The girl wasn't up to much, her own makeup was far too heavy and although she said she would only do me a "light touch" it was still far too much product for a mature skin. Less is definitely more when you are a decrepit old crone:rotfl:
I didn't let on that I was a trained beauty therapist I just left her to it. Let's just say it was a good job I was coming straight home afterwards and no-one would be seeing my face caked in make up.
The spa concentrated on Elemis products - eye wateringly expensive so I didn't buy anything.
Had a good chat with SIL tonight, poor thing is in pieces. I really must make time to spend a few days with her and go and see FIL whilst he still knows who I am.
Sometimes I can hardly believe that just a few years ago we had two sets of parents who were hale and hearty and my OH and I were happy and carefree, full of plans and schemes, looking forward to our future.
Fast forward a few years, MIL is dead, my OH has died, my mum is dying, my FIL is going downhill fast and my father is a sad wraith like figure.
Ah well, I guess it's just part of life's rich tapestry.
You play the hand you are dealt. You just have to remember to play to win and not give up when life throws you a curved ball.
Stray cat has decided it's time for a cuddle so I guess it's time to say goodnight and give her some attention.
Talk about high maintenance. :rotfl:0 -
Morning All,
What a time some of you are having-it makes me feel more determined than ever to appreciate all that life has to offer. This has been reinforced by feeling ill for the past few days - I wouldn't swap good health for riches beyond anyone's wildest dreams. I've only had a cold -though I do always get them badly when I do get them. I ended lying on the sofa wrapped in a blanket all afternoon yesterday in my pyjamas. Mind you I had got dressed but then managed to spill boiling hot coffee over myself!!
Anyway, today I feel miles better though I have a very sore nose and am hoping it won't develop into cold sores as I am very susceptible to them. I've had a bath and washed my hair, sprayed on the perfume and am wearing a flattering outfit(red and black draped jersey long sleeved top and smart grey trousers) and co-ordinating jewellery. I do have to go into work but only for an hour till the person supposed to be working can get in. I feel much better for looking good (or as good as can be today) which is what this thread is all about I suppose.
I'm then going to treat myself to a bar of chocolate and come back home and snuggle up on the sofa again with a good book.

Rose - sounds like a good plan. Hope you feel better soon. Your outfit sounds fab.
Well today I have to,wait in for some deliveries so I'm going to roll up my sleeves and get stuck in.
The cellar is now fully cleaned out and the dehumidifier and new air vents are doing the trick. It's now nice and dry. I bought two large industrial style shelving units and a few plastic crates and I have been happily unpacking, sorting and loading up the shelves.
The units will house all our tools, diy equipment and materials and extra cleaning products. At the top of the cellar steps there is small landing affair with shelves which I shall use to house kitchen equipment such as mixers, slow cooker etc, and day to day cleaning materials. It's the next best thing to a pantry......although not suitable for food storage.
At any rate this will free up the kitchen cupboards and the worktops, so hopefully no more clutter. Today's job will be to sort out all the cleaning materials - I bought some baskets for these and to do a bit of plastering and then fablon on the shelves. It's all finally coming together.
Right I'm on a mission.......
I want to sort out my make up and rethink my skin care routine.
I need to think about anti wrinkle creams, and "rejuvenating" products. I have bought a Boots diy chemical peel kit which I'm hoping to trial this week. I have tried nano blur but wasn't blown away by the results. I've tried an Aldi CC cream but found that a bit heavy. I certainly don't want to pay Elemis prices but I realise that the kind of science I need is not going to be exactly cheap.
Any suggestions?
I had a quick look this morning - I just goggled anti wrinkle products and needless to say there were pages and pages of info. I will do a bit of research later this evening whilst half watching TV but I just wondered what your fave "must haves" were.
My skin reacts badly to retinol which of course is one of the primary ingredients to the most effective wrinkle reducing products.
Apparently ROC do a cream with slow release retinol which is supposed to be ok for retinol sensitivity.
All ideas and suggestions on a postcard please:rotfl:
Right time to mix that plaster and get cracking.
Have a great day.0
