    Damn....just lost my post.......

Maman - you are describing me at the moment. My hair is lacklustre and I look "pale and interesting". I definitely need to start using a bit more slap. I also need to make a hair appt.

Tru - great news about your progress. I too have been rethinking whether or not to continue with PIlates. I think the class I attend has become a bit too advanced for me. Last week I hurt myself trying to keep up so yesterday I didn't try so hard just doing what I could. I think I would be better just saving my money and doing stretches and yoga/Pilates at home.

I really want to do some resistance training to improve muscle strength. Again I prefer to do this at home but unfortunately the cellar is the only place to set up a mini gym and its a long way off being in a fit state to house equipment. I might join a gym for a while. I could swim too as well as attend classes such As tai chi. I will look into it - perhaps after Christmas. In the meantime I am trying to walk more.

The builder is here this morning putting air vents in the cellar so once that is done that will be the last inside dirty job. The joiner is due back next week and ds2 is off next week so we are aiming to crack on with the decorating.ive ordered the carpets and the bookcases and storage units have arrived so progress is being made.

House fabbing and personal fabbing are now firmly back on the agenda......

Thank you for the comments on hair and skin care. I badly need a hair cut. I found a really good hairdresser a few years ago. When I first went to him he had made one of the bedrooms in his house into a small salon, then he bought a prime location salon and now charges prime fees. I really need to cut back on my spending just now as I am giving my dd a lot of help set up a flat. She has been very ill and is unable to work at present. I have booked a hairdresser that comes to the house. She is coming on Tuesday morning. I am a bit apprehensive about trying someone new.

I have found this product a really good cleanser for mature skin:

    http://www.superdrug.com/Superdrug/Superdrug-Hot-Cloth-Cleanser-With-Muslin-Cloth-150ml/p/516251#.VEth6_l4pcQ

It is sometimes on a half price offer or bogof and lasts for ages. My classroom assistant is about five years older than me and has lovely youthful skin. She uses Liz Earle which is out of my budget, but I find this much cheaper version has really helped my skin.

Tru I can understand where you are coming from. I find I have to sacrifice fabbing a fair bit to fit in my back exercise routine. However mobility and pain management need to come first and the other things will come in time.

    Afternoon Everyone

I'm not feeling very Fab today as I've come down with a cold. I'm crossing my fingers it is a mild one and that I don't get any cold sores which I often do. I did try to have a lie in but was too wide awake so got up anyhow.

I usually feel worse as the day goes on when I do get a cold so got lots done this morning. I've made a stew which is now in a home made slow cooker - a polystyrene box in which I've put my pan and surrounded by old pillows and cushions. I've also done all the ironing and swept up the leaves outside, which go into the chicken pen for them to scratch around in and look nice too.

I'm now flagging a bit but may go out with DH to a local garden centre which has an Aquatic section as he needs some stuff for his tropical fish and his seahorse tanks. I'm planning a cosy evening in front of the woodstove once DS and DDiL have been for their regular Sunday meal. Fortunately it's not my day for DGD as she is at her other Grandma's today.

I have managed to do a bit of fabbing in that I had a nice long soak in the bath and did a bit of defuzzing and a mini pedicure. I'm just wearing jeans and an upcycled Country Casuals top. It was cream but got stained so I dyed it sky blue and stitched a spotty blue and white ribbon round the neckline.

    Keep well everyone.

    Ninth Anniversary
Please may I join in. I feel rubbish at the moment -my husband of 31 years decided he was leaving me last week. I am heartbroken had no idea. We had been to a family christening (on his side)a couple of weeks ago and then his cousin visited from USA with her family and he let me play happy families even when she said 'save up and come over' he started to price up flights. He says it is him not me but I need something nice to do for myself and think this might help me focus. I am fat -he told me but not massive. I'm just not sure where to start and he is still living in the house which I am finding very hard to deal with. Sorry if a bit long

Couldn't read and run Katie so sending you a great big (albeit dodgy) hug:grouphug:. I can't imagine how devastated you must be feeling but I think you have a good plan to start feeling better about yourself.

Long term I think you'll feel good if you can lose weight but short term start cosseting yourself. If you have the money get your hair/nails/eyebrows done. If you're strapped for cash then just have a good long soak in the bath, slather yourself in body lotion and do your own mani/pedi and eyebrows.

I came on here years ago when I was feeling like a bag lady. LL and all the other virtual friends helped me hugely and I lost weight with Slimming World. I'm a massive convert so I won't go on about it but healthy eating would be a big step forward for you.

    Keep posting.:)
  • As maman .... Big hugs.... Hope you are being very gentle with yourself and. Trying as best you can to relax a with soaks in the bath and some little treats.

I cannot begin to imagine how you are feeling, I hope you have a good friend close by to offer support. We all help each other as much as we can.. Motivate, support and gently push each other along. This is a lovely thread which I'm sure will help you. Sometimes it's easier to talk to people you don't see. Much hugs to you..

I have been trying to keep the pampering up but it is difficult when you are tired. We had someone view flat a week ago wed, then came back for second view last sun... Trying. To bit get deflated... On one had I was delighted for viewers.. Sooo wishing they had put in offer.. Trying not to get upset but do need this to sell soon.

Finally brought the boots out there box today.. It really must be winter after all ....

    Hope everyone is well...

    S/c :) x

    Hello Katiecat.

So sorry to hear your news. I can only echo what Sweetcheeks and Maman have said and am sending you hugs and lots of healing vibes.

Now is the time for you, to start really looking after yourself and thinking about your own needs. I'm sure you feel lost and bereft, just try and give yourself time to mend.

One day the sun will shine again for you, you will smile and laugh and take joy in living. Be patient and you will feel good again.

Even in the depth of despair there is always light at the end of the tunnel, even if you can't see it. There are few situations in life that are so dire they do not have a positive, even if it is something so simple and daft as not having to watch TV programmes with that bore you to tears just to please someone else. :D

I'm sure that still living in the same house makes things rather more difficult so I hope you can resolve that situation in the fairly near future to your mutual satisfaction.

In the meantime I hope you get lots of support from your friends and family and of course never forget that your Fab Friends are here for you.

Keep your chin up, and remember a little fabbing every day. Try and sleep and eat well, and start exercising gently, even just a daily walk in the fresh air. Do things that give you comfort and pleasure and when you are ready try something new, for example a new hobby or something that you have always wanted to try but never got round to.

Think back to your younger self and rediscover the things that gave you joy, happiness and fulfilment.

It's your turn now to reclaim your life, from now on live it on your terms and live it to the max.

    Good luck and keep posting......xx

I've had a lovely day with my boys, helping DS1 in his house. Had a message tonight that dad is not too good sohave cancelled tomorrow's plans so I can pop over. I've got a few home cooked goodies for him so hopefully that will cheer him up a bit.

    G'night all.....

Well what a day of days.

Went to see my mum - she was totally unresponsive, eyes shut tight, hands clenched in fists. I stroked her face and she seemed to,like that, other than that, nothing. Don't know whether she knew I was there or not....... So so sad.

Then when I got home had a call from SIL to say that FIL had been admitted to a nursing home today.

Double whammy...... As for my dad he looks like a cadaver, God knows how his legs support him. He is stick thin and looks so frail.

I feel like a wet dishcloth tonight. I have a dreadful rash on my neck, shoulders and chest. Just stress of course, but it's quite painful and very uncomfortable. My neck glands are the size of golf balls. :rotfl:

    Only one thing for it.

Going to,light the fire and some candles and just snuggle down with a warming supper of chilli and a glass of vino and just try and relax.

    Tomorrow is another day.
  • Big hugs LL.. You certainly need them. Old age is certainly unkind at times. X
