    Good morning

Tru -, I feel your pain. My back is really sore this morning. It was stiffening up again and then I sneezed. Even my coccyx hurts. :rotfl:

So like you its rest and stretches. Am seeing the Physio on Monday. Anyway hope you feel better soon. I'm going to have a soak in the bath and try and loosen up. I have some of those heat pads so I might use one today.

I can understand that it is getting you down - it's only natural to feel miserable when you are in pain and discomfort. This morning I could comit murder if Only could summon up the energy:rotfl:

I'm not feeling even remotely fab, my skin and hair are impossible and I just feel so shattered all the time. The house is an uncomfortable drafty messy building site. I wish I could just go away for a holiday and come back to find its all been done and finished.

Oh dear, moan, moan, moan. Not like me at all. I'm just fed up. Never mind just a few more weeks.........

BITSY - hope you have a lovely weekend.

Rose - Sounds like a nice day pottering about with your DH. In the nicest way it makes me feel a bit envious. My OH And I used to just pottter about together when he was well. I do miss him. Still I have lots of happy memories. And I do get to potter with the boys so I mustnt feel sorry for myself. It's up to me to get out and about, visit old friends and make new ones. I will, all in good time.

Enjoy your lunch together and let us know what kind of car you go for.

I'm loving my new car, it's a Corsa. It's not got a lot of oomph but it does the job, a great city car and economical to run.

Right time to get cracking. I waited in all day yesterday for a delivery of timber. After a flurry of phone calls - me nagging the suppliers, them trying to fob me off - it finally arrived this morning. At least I can go out later.

    Have a fab weekend xx

    Hi peeps

Funny old day here. They,ve collected the last of my husbands disability equipment and I've just finished the last of the paperwork, form filling etc. everything feels so final.

I've been to Physio and feel a bit better now, although my neck glands are very swollen and sore so I'm just resting on the sofa.

There's are a million and one things I could be doing ...........:o

The weather is awful, cold, wet and miserable. The house is warm enough but only because the new boiler is going full pelt.

Never mind we should be able to get carpets down, curtains etc soon. It will make a big difference. It will be nice to feel that it's a proper home rather than like we are camping out.

    Hope you are all well.

    Stay warm and keep fabbing......

Not much fabbing here today, as fast as I cover my sore face with make up, I rub it off wiping my nose which just keeps streaming:eek: So cold here with north wind, but no rain as yet. I have just been to A*di and treated myself to a heated throw, in a subtle shade of grey. We should have been on holiday in Pembrokeshire, but whilst spending the weekend near Abergavenny with friends, the electrics in our brand new wendy house on wheels decided to stop working, so we came home. Took it to dealers today and they say they have fixed the fault (fingers crossed smiley needed), but as the forecast is awful and I feel pretty crook, we have cancelled for the time being. Trying to persuade OH that we should rent a cottage somewhere for a few days instead.
Stay warm everyone and dig out the waterproof clothes:(

    Hi all
I'm working at home and glad of it as the weather is miserable compared to the glorious sun we had yesterday!

My latest Project 333 is well underway, although I've organised some substitutions already! I bought some black jeans from simply be which I thought would be OK, but after a week's worth of wearing, I've concluded that they don't do me any favours. Too tight around my (fat) stomach, but baggy around the bum and thighs. So they're being ebayed and I've ordered some more from new look (I already have something in this style, so know they look ok).

While I was there, I also ordered some new ankle boots - the ones on my 333 list are much more battered than I thought, with holes forming in the soles, so fingers crossed these'll fit :)

I feel a bit guilty buying, but I guess it's more acceptable as I'm replacing (and ebaying/throwing out).

I've noticed that my skin is very dry when I get out of the shower, so probably need a new face wash - strange that it was fine before though. Maybe down to the air temperature changing, skin more dried out generally perhaps?

I have a busy week coming up, with a fair bit of traveling for work, then a weekend away in a cottage in the lakes - hopefully the weather will hold, or we'll find something weather-proof to do!

    Hi Everyone :)
I've had a very frumpy couple of weeks. I went on a night out with a few friends who are all very stylish and about a foot taller than me, I love them all to bits but going out with them always makes me feel rubbish. I'm like a dumpling surrounded by runner beans!
And then the weather turning colder has made my skin incredibly dry, flaky and sore. I've been using a very basic Olay moisturising fluid but think I need to get something richer for winter. My skin tends to get quite oily though so it's hard to get the balance right.
Can anyone recommend any moisturisers that might be suitable?

Having a better day today though, I'm wearing a dress I got for £5 in the sale in Primark and have had a few compliments :o
  • Fairy lights.... I am (somewhat) of the runner bean... I hate being so tall and have been very gangly most of my life. Not just now as I am unwell so we all have our- hate or shapes moment but that's what this page is all about helping us fab along the way :)

Bitsy home you enjoyed your visit to brum

Maddie hope you are feeling better soon and your face clears up pronto... Sore cold nose :(

LL I hope you are continuing to be gentle with yourself...

Been to get some tests done and see nauropath- I have yeast intolerance, candida in my stomach, over work adrenal glands and thyroid issues. severe intolerance to dairy, mushrooms, grapes and wine amongst other things...

Funny how you avoid things even though you like it... Always knew I had an issue with bread & ice cream & dairy. So lots of taking it easy and a special diet for the next few months so get myself sorted out and starting to relax. And another visit in two months time. Hopefully cutting out certain things for short time with give better item on health.

Ah well another adventure and another mountain to climb..

    Onwards and upwards ladies

:T for the successes and :group hug: for the tough times.

At the moment I look like a bloated wee pudding (with gorgeously shiny hair ;)). I had been living under the illusion that I looked ok however, in true womans magazine fashion, some recent photos have given me some more insight :o My new jeans are also doing me no favours so they have been relegated to casual/house wear and I have returned to my staple dresses and cardigans.

To those considering new skincare it might be best to go and gather some samples from beauty counters to see what works over a couple of days. That said it is harder to sample more pocket friendly versions. Maybe ask friends what they use and ask to try a sample of their products? After years of trying various products in diverse price ranges I have accepted that Estee Lauder is the range that suits me although the prices are :eek::eek:. I get round that by buying the skin care gift sets in the January sales, still ££££ but less than normal full price.

I need a firm kick into action.

Sweetcheeks - how interesting that you are suffering with the same issues as me, ie candida overgrowth, overworked adrenal glands etc.

Like you, my problems are food and stress related.. I am trying to eat a clean diet too, but I find total exclusion diets just too drastic, they make me feel ill and I also get acid reflux. I'm finding it best to take it slowly, just making a few changes at a time.

For me the big one is wheat and all grains. I have bought some coconut flour and have ordered some almond flour so that I can make "bread, some cake or biscuity type treats"

I'm also supposed to avoid anything dairy and anything which is likely to ferment in the gut, ie sugars, mushrooms, cheese, alcohol., legumes

I'm experimenting with diary alternatives and a sugar substitute called xylobrit - can't stand stevia. I've also started taking some vitamins to support my adrenal system and probiotics to help build up good bacteria in the gut to fight the candida.

It's all a bit of a learning curve.

Apparently it can take several months to establish good flora in the gut, cleanse the liver and allow the adrenals to recover, so I will just have to be patient. At any rate I realise that I shall have to be in this for the long term, not just a quick fix and then back to my old bad habits.

So yes I'm being gentle on myself, trying to get good sleep and taking time out to rest during the day.

Today I had a lovely nap on the sofa. I crashed out for over an hour, so I must have needed it. :o

Re the skin care. I find I need an industrial strength moisturiser these days, especially in the winter. Central heating, cold winds etc can really dry out the skin. When mine is really bad I sometimes use facial oils. I make my own, using either almond oil or grape seed oil as a base and add some essential oils, both for therapeutic reasons and to make it smell nice. Tbh any vegetable oil will do, with or without the addition of essential oils. Many Mediterranean women just use olive oil, both as a moisturiser and a hair conditioner.

And of course you shouldn't cut out all fats from your diet even if you are trying to lose weight. Your body and your skin needs oils, so don't forget to eat oily fish like salmon or sardines and add
olive oil in your cooking. You need to feed your skin from the inside. A supplement of either evening primrose oil or starflower oil will really help with dry itchy skin.

So let's get ready for winter, with lots of pamperimg and a little self indulgence.

We are sooooooo worth it. :rotfl:

    Morning All

It's horrid weather here again today- cold and wet and rainy. I've got Pilates at 9.30 and coffee with friends afterwards. I'm not sure about the afternoon yet. Normally I work Tues afternoons but we are not open today for a change. DH is out all day and won't be back until late afternoon.

We bought our new car yesterday. We are dropping down from two cars to one so used mine as a trade in. We ended up buying a 3 year old Renault Megane as it fitted all the criteria we need - including only £20 a year Road Tax and supposedly 72mpg on long trips. As we are spending over £450 a year on Road Tax between us and 2 lots of insurance at the moment it should be a big saving. The car has only done 5,000 miles too so should last us a long time. So a biggish spend but with the aim of saving quite a bit over the next few years.

I can't help with ideas for skincare as I think I have said before I don't use anything on my face - just hot water and a flannel. I am lucky in having pretty good skin and lots of people do comment on the fact I look young for my age. I do have plenty of fat in my diet though as I eat lots of butter and cream and always have done. Like many of you, I find I get on better if I try to keep off the grains. I don't find it too hard - apart from the fact that I miss poached egg on toast. I usually have my poached eggs on a potato rosti instead these days (home made), though yesterday I tried doing a similar idea with grated swede. It was ok but I prefer it made from potato. The best thing for me is keeping away from sugar, but chocolate is my downfall.

I braved the scales today after my poor eating over the past week or so. I haven't lost any more weight obviously but was pleased I hadn't put any on. I'm going to set myself a mini goal of getting under 10 stone by the beginning of November- so need to lose 5lbs by then. My ex husband is coming over to stay with DS for a week so I am going to use that as an incentive to be looking as Fab as possible when he sees me!! Ideally in the long term, I would like to get down to just under 9 stone so have 18 pounds to go!!

I shall be wearing exercise gear this morning so not much in the way of Fabbing. I do have a variety of tops and leggings or joggers to choose from so will go and try a combination. I bought several cheap vest tops from Primark last week so have been seeing which colours look good on me.

Hope everyone has a good day.
