Maman, it was similar in Tunisia. I never seen full burka but lots of women were at the pool in the water fully covered to ankles & wrists and a head scarf...0

I'm back from the spa break and had an absolutely wonderful time. It was so nice to spend some quality time with my mum and we had some lovely treatments. Feeling very relaxed and pampered now. Also feeling quite pleased with myself as both my mum and my nan said how nice my skin was looking (this is before the spa too!) and the woman who gave me my massage said that my hair colour was lovely and really looks good on me. Also my back was much less knotty so the exercise looks like it's helping! No more goo hoarding!

Compliments are always welcome. So glad you enjoyed yourself pq. I've only ever had treatments in salons. I'd love a spa break.
I've had a shower and forced myself to defuzz and slather cream all over afterwards. It's so easy to get out of that habit once the cold weather kicks in.
Been having bad hair days lately. My hairdryer decided to give up on the morning we left for Istanbul. Fortunately DH was using it and we had a spare as I knew it was on the way out. I'd had my hair done the day before, not perfect as I like time to get used to haircuts. So I had a new hairdryer, new haircut and soft water to contend with (my hair seems to rely on local chalk for a bit of body) plus I forgot to pack my favourite blow dry brush! Looks reasonable today so must be getting used to it at last.
I'm starting to wish the weather would make its mind up. I've avoided wearing tights or proper coats so far but this mid-season period is difficult.
Not seem kiwi lately. Hope all is well if you're lurking.:)0 -

Hi Maman and all my fabbing friends, I just don't know where the days go to and I find it hard to keep up with activity on more than one or two threads at any one time but failed miserably on all counts this past week or two.
I was just thinking OMG Friday again tomorrow and I better check in with the fabbers. I wracking my brain trying to think what I can wear or do to give myself a bit of Friday Fabness.
At this time of year our weather is pretty similar, we're in that springtime period where the wind cuts you in half and it's still too cold and wet for summery clothes. The wind and rain drive me bonkers and I'm struggling to know what to wear - sick of winter clothes and boots but the thought of anything lighter is too much to face when it still cold in the mornings.
I guess it's all linked and I'm still in this kind of half-hearted mode, still trying a bit with SW but not being terribly good and feeling I can't face up to checking in daily because things have slipped - always just tipped over the edge to 'naughtiness' or stupidity and for me to know I have strayed just that little bit too far from the plan. e.g. being really good all day and then eating six dry crackers before going to bed. Not even worth it I know, when I could have had something way more indulgent or nicer - in hindsight it seems ridiculous to blow the diet on something so bland and boring.
I doubt there'll be any loss this week and I know I am allowing myself to make even more excuses but I think I'll ride with it over the weekend and then have a big push next week to get back on track. ( I said this last week too!)
I'm just about to write my shopping list for tomorrow, so I'll hatch a plan and hopefully I can contain myself to more appropriate food choices for the coming week.Mortgage

I have been trying to brighten things up but am a bit short of options and really could do with a bit of an overhaul as everything is a bit too dull and monochrome black and grey at the moment. I have lots of navy clothing but never seem to have appropriate shoes and never really happy wearing navy with my black boots. But you have made me think on, as I do have some navy loafers and am now off to investigate what I could pull together from the navy 'collection' for tomorrow. Thanks!!Mortgage

Good morning ladies
I have started layering up now, lightweight tops and then a lightweight cardigan and of course a raincoat::rotfl: at least we have heating now and joy of joys skirting boards and architraves, just one more room to go.... Then it's slap on some paint and get some carpets down.
DS 2 is working this weekend so we will go on Tuesday, his next day off, to choose carpets and curtains etc. Its time for the fun stuff now, a few extra bits of furniture such as bookcases and storage units, and then start on the rugs and accessories. It will be so nice to finally get the boxes unpacked and our treasures out on display.
I know this isn't my final move but I'll be here for at least a year so I may as well bed down and make myself comfortable. I've decided that I will not move into my next house until everything is done - no more living on building sites - I'm too old, so even if I were to find a house soon I shall be here for a while.
I've just had a leisurely morning And I'm just about to have a leisurely mooch around the shops. Still get very tired so I'm just pacing myself. I might even have a browse around the charity shops.
I've found nice little shopping complex where there are 4 charity shops, a nice little independent boutique and an independent shoe shop, as well as "proper shop" such as bakers, butchers, greengrocers, ironmongery, shoe repairers etc It's like stepping back in time to a more civilised way of shopping. There's a nice coffee shop and even the car parking is free::Da
I really like shopping at the little indie shops, I get so fed up with the big chains, all stocking the same old things. You can't tell one shops merchandise from another. The little indies do tend to stock slightly different things and they aren't any more expensive either.
I'm going to look fo some ankle boots today.
Finally I'm up to date with all the paperwork, just awaiting to hear from one more pension provider which was totally unexpected. Turns out I will have more income than I anticipated, with dribs and drabs coming from various pensions etc. - not quite the "rich widow" but at least no money worries. Perhaps as well, losing ones husband is bad enough without having to worry about money. It will be two months tomorrow, how time whizzes by.
Mum still going downhill, no idea of timescales. She still just about recognises us all, but Can't really communicate now. Dad is struggling, I think he finally understands the severity of mums decline. It's so desperately sad. I know this sounds naff but I think that once mum has gone, he will follow quite swiftly. Perhaps for the best.
Oh dear, didn't mean to go all doom and gloom on you all.
These things happen, it's all part of life's tapestry.
Right time to get cracking and hit the shops.0 -
Hope you had a good time at the shops LL. Sometimes it's nice to have a browse with no time constraints, quite a luxury.
We all have blips on the 'weightloss journey' kiwi. You know you'll be pleased when you get to target so stick with it. Maybe it's a general fed up feeling after the winter. Just think how much better you'll feel better to be slimmer when you've got summer clothes on in a few weeks time.
I did a quick stocktake around a group I was with this morning. It seemed about 50/50 between those that were already in boots & tights and those (like me) still trying to brave the ballet pumps and bare feet. It's definitely too cold for bare legs though.
I need to come up with a good healthy meal plan for the coming week as I've actually gained a couple of pounds and I want to get rid of them. I know it's from my holiday and all the family birthdays but it has to go!!
We're off to see 'Pride' tomorrow so I'll fab up for that. I'm looking forward to it as it's had good reviews and the village is very close to where I grew up and where my brother still lives. We had a glorious drive that way a couple of weeks ago (start of the Brecon Beacons National Park).0 -
Hello everyone,
I just got back from the hairdresser before the rain started pelting down, so my new chop still looks nice. It's so dark, wet and wild here today it's rather nice to have had my hair done.
I think we might go to the cinema this evening, unless the rain gets even worse. The weekend starts in an hour or so and I can't wait!0 -
Went to see Pride last week. Loved it.
Well I'm back from my little shopping expedition, just enjoying a quiet cuppa. I was only out for a couple of hours in the end because I felt very tired half way round. I did buy some ankle boots so mission accomplished. I didn't see anything of note in the charity shops so didn't bother. I don't actually need anything at the moment, I'm all set for auntumn winter really. It's not as if I'm living the high life and needing lots of outfits - although my plumber did suggest taking me out to bingo one night:rotfl: I think I'll pass.......0
