I love the 50s style too! There isn't a lot in the shops that's reasonably priced though
I'll have to have a big ebay hunt soon.
Still haven't managed the underwear shopping, been to a few places but they're too expensive/ not what I'm looking for/ not the right size. Stuck with the slightly knackered pants for now! I've heard that Boux Avenue does nice and not too unreasonably priced stuff, will give that a look.
Oh and I've booked a personal shopper experience - free, but I usually hate things like that - feel so stuck in a rut though that I need to do something!
Spent three hours today on a long walk, all good, came home and fell flat on my face in the garden getting the washing in. DOH…..Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j0 -
Morning :hello:
The drive down to Cornwall wasn't good for my leg. We usually only have one break on this journey, but we stopped a few times so I could walk about for a few minutes. But it didn't make much difference really, it's been stiff and sore for the past couple of days. Not exactly helped by having to wait for the AA for what seemed like foreverI walked a lot yesterday, tbh if I'd planned it I wouldn't have managed it – funny how the mind works
Two hour long walks then some pottering about.
My hair is drying out in the sea air so I'm using more leave-in conditioner at the moment. The water is very soft though, I'm hardly using any body lotion. Gloucester water seems to suck the moisture right of me, Cornish water suits me much betterAnother reason I should be living here, lol. One day...........
I bought loads of fruit on saturday so I'm munching my way through that, I'm taking two tubs of raspberries and grapes out with me every day. Plus I have bananas and apples in the cottage. It's running out quickly, there's a new farm shop by the harbour, I'll pop in there and see what it's like. If it's no good, I'll use the local fruit and veg shop.
I won't apologise for buying saffron buns at the little bakery, or funding the pasty shop. I'm on holiday in Cornwall – it's the lawOh and I won't apologise for too many bacardis either

Tru - saffron buns, proper Cornish pasties, clotted cream, Cornish ice cream.?? well it would be rude not to rotfl: as for the bacardis, make mine a G&T and I'll join you.
Cornwall is my favourite place. My OH and I had a place in Spain. Our intention was winters in Spain and summers in Cornwall. Alas it was not to be.
I would move to Cornwall tomorrow but the boys need me here and I would miss them, so I guess I'll stay put. Derbyshire is lovely but it's a long way from the sea. We have the rivers Dove, Derwent and Trent so perhaps I could buy a riverside property.
There are some lovely riverside apartments and cottages dotted about but obviously you did need to consider the flood risk.......
Anyway have a lovely holiday. Sorry to hear the leg is playing up, that's the problem with long car journeys, they always upset my back.
Looks like another nice day, so just going to make the most of it. Going to get out in the garden, lots of washing etc
My back isn't too happy having tried lifting some timber:eek: when will I learn. So a nice easy day.
Have made myself a nice lavender body oil so have given myself a couple of mini massages. Helps relax the muscles.
Battery warning on my iPad so must dash.0 -
Tru Sounds like a wonderfully delicious time you are having, I hope you enjoy every minute
We have been to Cornwall once before and the beaches were beautiful.
Busy, busy busy here today so I look less than fab yet very practicalMy mission is to make the house shine from top to bottom and then tonight I will pamper myself
The healthy eating had gone out the window but my weeks are more structured now so I am hoping that will get me back on track and more focussed. The fridge and cupboards are packed with nutritious and delicious foods to help. Plus I start at the gym next week
My clothes are hanging ironed in outfits in the wardrobe to eliminate the scrabbling about in the morning and remove any excuse for not being well dressedI have also set my makeup out next to the mirror and my skincare products are on my bedside table. Hand cream is located round the house and in my bag so I have easy access to products that help me feel and look fabulous without having to hunt for them
On that note I really should get up and work :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
I had quite a fab weekend, went shopping and bought a few new things for work from Primark, started following an exercise programme online and ate really healthily. I found time to paint my nails and left the house this morning feeling pretty good!
But then I remembered my passport needs renewing and went to get some photos taken, and the result was not good. Why, why, why do passport photos have to be so hideous?! The flash of the camera was so bright my face is very unflatteringly illuminated with every imperfection in high definition, and my jaw looks freakishly square.
It's really deflated me and now I feel like stuffing my face with chocolate0 -
Good Evening Ladies.
Oh dear, Fairy Lights I can sympathise about the photo thing - I never look good on photos. I can remember my Mother sending me one from my sisters birthday party despite me saying she could take one of we three sisters but I didn't want to see it. I burst into tears on taking it out of the envelope and put it straight in the shredder! Just console yourself with its better to look better in real life than being photogenic and actually not looking that good most of the time!
I've had a couple of lovely days. I had DGD for the day yesterday and took her swimming with a new acquisition - a Shark Fin swimming aid which she loved. In the evening we went to see Billy Elliott the Musical - filmed live in the West End and shown at our local cinema. It was great.
Today I've had a shopping expedition to one of our local little towns - which has loads of charity shops. I've bought a really nice overshirt which I'm wearing for work tonight. Its pale blue and white pinstripes with pintucks down each side, rolled up sleeves, tiny buttons down the front third and a tiny stand up collar. It's really pretty and made of cotton so easy to look after. I also found a Peter Storm Fleece in navy blue and turquoise so am well pleased with my bargains.
I've eaten a bit better over the past few days - lots of vegetables and some fruit - but could still do better. I did succumb to a Magnum at Billy Elliott last night though.
Well, work shortly and I'm going to hope the rain doesn't return and walk there rather than begging a lift from DS, so I had better get sorted.

Tru your time in Cornwall sounds lovely. It is somewhere I have never been and would love to go. Rummer your house sounds wonderfully organised. I have got much better about using some of the lovely toiletries I have in the house after getting them all more organised over the summer.
The last few days I have been in a lot of pain and not manged to do much. This morning OH helped me do a shop at Aldi. Then I managed to go to the swimming pool. I did a little bit of swimming, some gentle exercises and walking in the water. I have an MRI scan tomorrow. It will be good to know what is wrong, so I can do more focused exercises.0 -

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: my home is anything but organised, I just place fabbing items amongst the clutter in key places
Sorry to hear you are in so much discomfort, hopefully something will help soon.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Good luck with the scan today Prudent.
Had a little wobble this morning. I was thinking about what to wear tonight (we're going to a gig and for drinks with some new friends), then I thought about what to wear to the charity shop today. the going out bit was easy, the charity shop has been tougher as I don't want to wear my really nice things just to get mucky at the shop!
Nice problem to have. Enjoy your day everyone.0 -
Lots of posts to catch up on, everyone sounds like they have been really busy.
Speaking of 50's style dresses I have bought this to wear to Caro Emerald concert next weekend

Also want to save some pennies for some Dr Marten bootsby time I save the money we will be in summer again :rotfl:
Did facial massage after watching Lisa Eldridge YouTube video on the subject and it felt lovely. Might treat myself to it again tonight.
Tru enjoy Cornwall, Bacardi and cream teas as a holiday perk
Prudent hope scan went well x
