Been a thoroughly sh!tty week, hubby unexpectedly unemployed so cue lots of stress in our house.
No job also means luxuries also out of the window so that means for now no more yoga class as I can't justify the expense right now. Gutted but when H gets a new job I am definitely going back to my classes.

Sorry to hear your news Bitsy, in my experience whilst redundancy sucks and is stressful when you're in the process; it so often has a silver lining and many people do move onto do bigger and better things, hope he finds something soon.

Thankfully my own spell of feeling a bit low over the weekend seems to have passed without incident and no further signs that the chills have got to me.

    Good morning all

Well today starts my next chapter. The landlord inspected the bungalow and thanked me for leaving it lovely and clean. So.... No excuse for not returning my deposit in full. Which is good news because I have spent far too much money on this new house:rotfl:

Have got a meeting with mums care team today. Called for by the family. Not too happy with her care so time for some sabre rattling.

Had to cancel tomorrow's Physio because of time constraints and won't manage the opticians this week either.

Never mind I can still make a start on some fabbing. Gave my hans some much needed TLC last night. Finally got rid of all the splinters :D

Have a great day. Still nice and sunny here. Got a small mountain of washing to plough through over the next few days. Fingers crossed the weather holds so I can line dry it all.

After not feeling particularly fab recently I came across some earrings yesterday so I'm wearing them today. I think it must be about 8 years since I wore any. I thought they might hurt or annoy me but I can't feel them at all. I also painted my nail for the first time in ages. Feel far better.

    Have a good day.

Sigh, I have fallen off the healthy eating wagon again. I really am struggling with giving up sugar which shows me that giving it up is clearly the right thing to do!

If I had oodles of pennies then I would book into one of these bootcamps and spend a few weeks just focussing on exercising and healthy eating. However I don't (sadly!) so I need to find some way of curbing my sweet tooth.

It is so important to me to set a good example to my children, I want them to see that self care is important and that healthy eating, exercising and personal fabbing should be a natural part of their lives. Plus if I am fabulous I will be a more relaxed and happier mum!

Ah well at least I am heading in the right direction!

You are doing so well, I am sure that it will all fall into place soon (Rome not being built in a day and all that:))

My sweet tooth has diminished massively in the last couple of years and I have a diet without much potato (don't really like them) and only a small amount of bread/pasta because it makes me feel sluggish and not well somehow - difficult to explain, this is no hardship to me, but for the last two days I have done nothing but stuff buttered toast down my face at every opportunity - very strange. I came back from holiday a couple of pounds lighter in spite of having eaten well, but suppose I was fairly active considering my limitations, I expect to get a shock after all the toast eating though:eek::o

Hot here again today, not helped by engineer installing new boiler having to have the rads running at full tilt at times as he sets the whole thing up, 26 degrees in my normally cool sitting room yesterday!

Poor you. You are not alone though. I have been like an alcoholic on a bender with chocolate since last Thursday. Went to aqua aerobics then pottered around the charity shops for a bit today. I got a blouse to add to my 33 things for the autumn term. Both seemed to have helped as my mind is planning a healthy menu for dinner and today has been okay. I bought new siemesta lunch boxes for work in Asda which will take salads/fruit salads. I also got a thin one which is divided and will take humus and veggies to dip.

LL glad your landlord is pleased. I hope things go well at your mum's meeting.

MM I noticed I felt rubbish when I managed two weeks without cereal and then ate a bowl. I would like to cut out bread/pasta/ cereal but I haven't gained enough skills at replacing it yet.

AE painting my toe nails is my standby when I feel particularly 'unfab'.

    Hi all,

Hope you don't mind me joining in. I'm going through some major changes both in my body and mind at the moment and have just found this thread, it seems to be right up my street.
So I began healthy eating in March and so far I've lost 1st 8lbs and I feel so much better for it:j
Exercise wise I've been restricted due to a knee op but now I am getting better and managing to fit in some fairly long walks.
I'm hoping to get to my goal weight by November as I go and visit my son in Australia and want to look fab.
Otherwise I'm really trying to set up my business so that I can actually earn an income from it. My dh is generous to a fault but have hated relying solely on his income this last year.
Anyway enough waffle, hoping to get to know you all better, bfn J x

hi Julie. Welcome to the thread.. Well done on the weight loss.

Well ladies I have to confess I feel quite grim tonight. Don't know whether it's the heat or tiredness but I just feel bleugh :rotfl: don't even want to eat so just going to watch a bit of TV to unwind and then have a nice early night.

Never mind. Tomorrow is another day. ;)

Tomorrow I will rest, potter, avoid the worst of the heat and eat healthily.

I have managed to do some sorting and decluttering so the day wasn't a total write off.

I don't eat bread, pasta, cake - mostly ;). Also sugar

I gave them all up around 8 weeks ago, have lost a fair amount of weight and I love it.

I do eat potatoes and rice on occasion though.

    So, breakfasts
Porridge - made with milk, a twist of the salt mill, single cream
Bircher muesli - oats soaked in milk for a while, spoon of plain yogurt, frozen berries (defrosted ;) ), seeds a d nuts
Eggs - omelette, hard boiled, poached, scrambled. With bacon if you like. Huevos rancheros are yummy and I could have them for breakfast Lunch or dinner
Banana, melon, apple, nectarine etc with plain yogurt. Combination of fruit or just one or two. Sprinkle chopped nuts, seeds, some frozen or dried berries over
Continental - ham, cheese, tomatoes, melon

    Lunch

    Any of the above
    Soup
    Salad
    Jacket spuds
My wicked favourite is cheese apple and plain crisps
    Leftovers
I have a microwave at work so lunch isnt too tricky. If I have to "pack" it i would take salad or hummus and crudit!s or peanut butter and oatcakes

Dinner isn't usually a problem - no pizza (though you can make a cauliflower crust, but I haven't tried yet), burgers without bread are just as nice - I have been known to wrap one in lettuce if a plate isn't possible.

I don't miss it. I am on holiday in Italy this week and, if anything) it's easier as I have time to chop up fruit and do salad while the others have their cornettoes (croissants), or pizzas or pasta. ( Though i have had one gelato, and one pizza)

It isn't hard and fast - if. I really want it, I would have it, but only one or two things a week - the sugar I tend to have when I can work it off.

I do really like decent ice cream but the frozen banana "ice cream" is divine. I also eat a small square of plain (85%) chocolate every day.

Hope that helps - I am not a hero or a martyr, it is the easiest thing I have ever done. I don't miss anything and I am never hungry. I have lost 13lb in three months ( though some of that is the 5:2). If I really want something I will have it, but try to employ the French "just three bites" thing - the theory being that pleasure diminishes rapidly after the first three bites. I can do this forever.

Now, I have terrible cracked heels - anyone got any tips? And how do I stop my finger nails splitting
I wanna be in the room where it happens
