Pru- your smoothies sound fab. Do you have proper recipes or do you just make them up as you go along. Do you have a proper juicer or just a blender. I only have a blender at the moment but am considering a juicer. Any recommendations.

Whilst on the subject of blending/purees etc I am on a mission to liven up OH's meals. The NH meals are terribly bland and he does like a bit of spice in his life. Any ideas anyone.

So far I've done curries, chicken casseroles - not tried stewing beef thought the fibres might be difficult for him. Meatballs, chillis, basically anything which is of a reasonably soft texture and which can be pureed.

He can only manage pureed potatoes, no rice, pasta or noodles. No pastry bases etc. Again all suggestions welcome.

I'm going to ask on the OS board too.

Hi LL I spent some time reading about green smoothies on various website and once I had got the basics I know just make them up. Last summer I was lucky enough to win two blenders. A basic smoothie one and this one:
    http://www.johnlewis.com/kenwood-kmix-blender/p230855949

I find the basic one okay for soft fruit smoothies, but the Kenwood handles everything. I make a lot of soups and also use it to blend them.

I will have a think about the blended food for you. I work with young people with complex disabilities and a lot of them need an adapted diet. Cauliflower cheese and break down very fine and still taste lovely.

I have a smoothie every morning with soya milk, protein powder, a banana and some frozen blueberries. It fills me up for the day as it's high in protein. I've never made green smoothies, but I did buy my blender for them as it breaks down anything!
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)

I have been looking for ways to increase my protein intake as my PT will be having me lifting weights to help me shift the weight. So in the future I may consider protein powder shakes although the ones I have tried in the past have not been that palatable.

Well today was a family members birthday so the healthy eating has gone out the window :o I did however have a fabulous day :D I wore one of my new dresses, did my hair and popped on some makeup and I felt pretty fabulous! We met friends, spent time at the park and had dinner out so it was just what we needed.

LL what about egg based dishes like frittata? Souffles, pate, dahls, mince dishes, fish?

Can you pur!e gnocchi? It's a potato dumpling but might not be suitable. A nice tomato sauce and lots of garlic.
If you can pur!e chicken OK and he likes spice how about Mexican spices, Cajun or fajitas or enchilada without the tortillas.

Hugs LL for you and for hubby. The ladies have already said things more eloquently so I will just echo their sentiments x

Trying hard to catch up on the thread, I have been reading on off but not had much time. The flat hasn't had one viewer yet.. I know it's not been on long but I'm trying not to think about it as it is sending me into a panic tbh!

We have managed to get a cheap break on holiday to the sun at the end of August for some sun & relax. Feel guilty for spending the £ as I don't know how Long I'll need to play the flat for... But I work hard with 2 jobs so have just gone for it.

Trying to go there wardrobe too and removing really old stuff that is worn out/ don't like/ doesn't fit. Managing well so far, some things have lowered to ranks of 2 mid job clothes. I have also managed to sell bras that don't fit me- all good condition to help contribute to new ones and gone up to cup sizes.. The trails of womenhood;)

Enjoying catch up on your mess and will try to read more tonight and click in a little bit more. It's such a lovely thread.

Today I have moisturised morning and night to help skin be in tip top condition. Cleansing and skin care routine still going. Going to add in a face mask to help skin along.

Will paint toe nails a new colour this weekend too.

Happy pampering everyone, hope you are well..

    Virtual hugs all round :)

LL I have a juicer it's a Philips 1871 and I love it. Not the most expensive on the market and it's lasted me a year and a half so far. I use jason vale for most of my recipes. They might be good for OH to give him so nice fresh flavours.

They can be zinging with lemon & lime ones.. Minty ones, ginger spicy ones lots of different options.

    Again as before big hugs:)

    hi

Have just got my latest OU results and had to share that I've passed this module with a better grade than I expected :j. Set me up for the day.

H is out today so can get on with some more house fabbing and must try and cut some of the vegetation back in the garden. H had started it yesterday but fell off the shed roof:rotfl::rotfl: Shouldn't laugh :o but if he didn't leave things so long he wouldn't have to climb to get at them! Anyway he's not done [STRIKE]enough[/STRIKE] much damage...

Have started doing eye and face exercises whilst the kettle boils in the morning(yoga ones). My eyes are just starting to deteriorate and have been told
    this may help.

    Right time to get on....

    Well done Lizzie :T

I am mainly house fabbing today. Still emptying my bedroom. Not letting myself do much else today as I want to get it done. I have my bedding on the line, have washed the kitchen floor. I will hoover downstairs and then start on the bedroom

I have done my back exercises and am still quite sore from Monday.

Today I am planning to eat:

    B. Green smoothie: cucumber, parsley, spinach, kiwi, tangerine & pineapple, lime.

    L. Homemade soup: butternut squash, celery, chilli, garlic, onion, lentils, courgette & yellow split peas.
smoothie: banana, berries, kale & almond milk

    D. salad: humus, sugar snap peas, bean sprouts, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, radish with a cider vinegar & lemon dressing

Drinks: water & hot water with lemon & ginger
