lol we were emotionally blackmailed into buying about 15 of them (loom bracelets) from our nieces last weekend - I've hidden them in a drawer now but not sure what to do with them..We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Yes - both my 12yo and my 5yo are obsessed with making them. My youngest has just learnt how to do a fishtail one by herself.
Both schools have banned them though.
Just wondering why are schools banning them?
Kids arguing over them?
No jewellery allowed in schools?
Health and safety in case they slip on elastic bands?
Seems a shame.0 -
At my youngest DD school it was because they where selling them to each other. So instead of banning the selling. They did a blanket ban.Death comes to us all. When he came to Mort, he offered him a job. MORT by Terry Pratchett.0

So, after saying yesterday that I was going to go and buy myself one - I got home to find my darling fiance had bought me one! Spent the evening happily 'looming' - it's so addictive!Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A0

My DSD has had them banned from her dance school. The reasoning being that they were distracting the kids too much.0 -
I went to a car boot on Sunday and children were selling the bracelets they had made - found it quite sweet though0

My DC are also hooked on these. Although they aren't too fussed on using the Loom bit. We use our fingers or 2 markers to make fishtails or the inverted fishtail. They are banned in the school I work in and in their schools also. They were too distracting, instead of concentrating on what the teacher was teaching o doing their work they were making bracelets.
I think they're great, esp for their fine motor skills, co-ordination and creativity, and they're cheap too!Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
Think I need to wear my glasses, I thought the thread title was 'loons'!
Plus I'm definitely not don't down with the kids as I've never heard of them and I work in a school!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I am now wearing my first loom bracelet, lovingly made by my 18 year old daughter0

I wish DD would put as much effort into her schoolwork as she does making loom band stuff! She's doing them non stop, she's made an iPod cover, pencil toppers, Adventure Time figures, and bracelets of every conceivable design. I can do a basic bracelet but I prefer to use the loom otherwise I feel like the circulation is being cut off in my fingers!
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0
