No, I said: all the Polish I HAVE MET

Yes it was a daft comment, wasn't it? ;)

The last couple of pages show how daft things can get when individuals over react to what seems an innocent OP (to reasonable people with a bit of common sense).

Brilliant. Someone comes on here with a problem with his/her neighbour and mentions that the family is Polish.

Instead of offering good advice, the majority of posters have, instead, focused on the 'Polish' reference.

For the record, my friend had a family from hell next door to him. They made his and the other neighbour's lives hell with the children running around the house screaming and slamming doors 23 hours a day.

The trouble only stopped when I intervened and got Social Services involved. The family disappeared within 15 hours of the Social Services getting involved.

Maybe this is a route the OP can investigate.

Meanwhile, I would suggest putting-up a fence and gates and maybe even a dummy CCTV camera to fool the neighbours into thinking they are being filmed for evidence.

Lost me there. Are you saying it is OK to be racist in an email but not a letter?

He wasn't being racist !!!!!!. Ok because of the pathetic over-reactions of overly pc liberals the op would have been better off not mentioning their nationality at all, but all the same, mentioning someone's nationality does NOT constitute racism. It is a descriptive term.

I suggest people stop looking for any excuse to play the race card, because frankly, it's boring.

I now fully expect to be accused of being racist :)

As soon as I heard the word Polish I lost sympathy, people are PEOPLE, the same all over. I have sympathy for the situation BUT anger for the mention of the word Polish. ALL the Polish I have met are really nice.

Grow up. He used the term 'Polish' because guess what...they were Polish!

    Get some damn common sense

in the context of the post (which was extremely negative) it could be considered racist. Otherwise why mention it?

And then say would only mention in an email, but not in a letter. I am baffled as to the logic.

I may be wrong but my assumption is that his reference to 'email' really means his original post on this thread, and his reference to 'letter' means writing to the council, which someone suggested that he do. The reason he said that he wouldn't do it in a letter is because he is now aware that some people (rightly or wrongly) may interpret the 'Polish' reference as racism.

fully agree, this is exactly what was wrong with the previous Labour Government, any mention of someones nationality and you were automatically branded racist. It annoys the hell out of me because it gives people a card to play to get what they want and noone dare challenge it.

No it couldn't be considered racist. Not at all.

It's no more racist than someone using the term 'black' or 'white' when describing the appearance of an offender to a police officer for their report. It's simply a DESCRIPTIVE term. Is the family next door Polish? Yes? Then they are a Polish family. That's it. That is literally all there is to it.
Anyone finding that post racist either needs their head read, or a dose of 'grow the heck up'.
