Over reacting is not a "label". And ganging up on the OP and branding them a racist is putting a label on someone.

Perhaps you can explain why the nationality was mentioned in the OP, or why they wouldn't use it (ever) in a letter?

Why not mention in a letter then?

Because there are probably people just like some of the people on here who would assume that the OP was racist even though they do not know him.

On this forum he is anonymous, if he wrote a letter he wouldn't be.

That sounds a bit like you are generalising about the whole Polish race. :naughty:

    Unbelievable. ;)

No, just the ones he has met. How could he possibly have met the whole Polish race?

    Edit:

I have met 4 Litunanian people in my life. One was a girl I used to work with who was lovely. The other was the person who fitted my kitchen who did a great job and who I got on very well with. The other 2 fitted my bedroom and I didn't like them and they didn't do a very good job.

Not that I want to harp on about it but:

Mentioning someone's nationality does help give a more rounded view. I am sure many Polish/Latvians/Where ever else-ians are nice neighbours, but you cannot deny there are a large group that aren't. PasturesNew's post says the reason it's a valid inclusion in the OP. If Polish culture is different, the neighbours may think it's okay, despite the OP telling them it isn't.

Why would anyone think the OP is being racist? Do you even know what it means? To put it simply, being a racist means you believe one human culture is better than another.
People do this every day. We all look down on council house estates, or even millionaires row and believe they are "not as good/honest/hard-working as us".

It's like people saying "ban baa baa black sheep because it's racist" <-- how is it racist?

People at my work call black/brown people "coloured" - I'd suggest that isn't quite the right term to use - it's okay to say "black" or "brown" as that's what colour their skin is...

    In answer to the OP:

As other people have suggested, contact the Letting Agency (if you know which one it is), but do it on a regular basis (at least every time it happens).

PN's point on cultures is a good one.

You are over reacting, and labeling someone as racist which is a disgusting thing to do quite frankly. Especially when he/she said they are not.

Most racists claim they are not.

Mentioning that they are Polish COULD have relevance as the culture of the family can be somewhat different to some of the ways that we think and behave. They genuinely might not see why their children's behaviour is a problem. Poland is one of the cleanest places I have ever visited but in the cities the litter was still thrown, unbagged, into a huge festering mess on the ground floor of the flats. Someone just came along and shovelled it up. I don't know if this was widespread so wouldn't generalise about this. It might explain though why there were some problems in areas such as Peterborough a few years back with Polish tenants throwing out rubbish into their front gardens.

On the other side of the coin, my new neighbours are not Polish and see nothing wrong with allowing their children to run in and out of everyone's gardens, even unlatching gates to get in. They are just a bit chavvy and stupid and also behave differently to how I would. There is little point mentioning it to them as they just wouldn't get it. We did have to build a fence but it hasn't completely solved the problem.

My Polish tenants are great and have even made improvements to the property (not that they needed to be done, they are just a bit OCD!). Swings and roundabouts...not racism.

Lost me there. Are you saying it is OK to be racist in an email but not a letter?
