I lurve freezer surprise!:D
Lunch today was boring! - Celery, cucumber, cherry tomatoes - to make up for yesterday's lunchtime excesses :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Dinner tonight will be bbq'd Salmon & steamed broccoli - we bought some very oddly flavoured frozen smoked salmon fillets on bargainous sale and this is the last of them - not a purchase we'll repeat! - lesson learned!!!:D:D:D4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Just popping by to say hello to you and the hounds - glad to hear all's sounding lovely!
Dinner tonight - probably thai fish soup I think...possibly bulked into more of a stew - we'll see. Got squid rings and giant prawns in the freezer as well as the standard basics white fish fillets so those will do nicely, and frankly with this current blast of cold weather, a bit of zing is called for!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

:cool:Thanks Pip!
I'm going to attempt toad in the hole with onion gravy for dinner. I have only seen this dish in pictures. It looks good and like something my two guys will like, so fingers xxxxed.
I'm using Nigel Slaters recipe???? It looked traditional.
Like I would even know what that was...:cool:Overprepare, then go with the flow.

hey Mila how did it go. I've got nigels recipe its good. Not as good as 'ds's :P but good. I hope you enjoyed it!
EH I hope that the fishy-soupy-stewy was yum.when u up in this shire, rather than your own shire lands.
RT I think we fell foul of the same salmon - ok but not for keeps. We live and learn and being true mse'rs we eat anyway.Lunch sounded lovely.
We had fish for tea too but the kind that comes with chips - the freezer surprise lives for todays tea and must be eaten. But yesterday we too lovely and even yesterdays shop is being put away today as the man came mid sunshine so he left it all stacked up on the table for me, it looked so happy I didn't want to disturb it - that and I was enjoying a 10-hour garden day.
I did chop all the errant pallets into lengths for the other saw and stacked them up by the wood bunkers.
I made one new wood bunker too - think we'll need three in total.
And I moved all the free wood from mums/skip up the back. That will need sectioned up and seasoned. But all of the wood is in one place now.
Have two peat bales for the kitchen stove it seems to work well with those on at bedtime.
Filled the kitchen monster log/laundry basket with dry wood.
I made a new bed by the greenhouse and planted all the 'rescue' offcuts and random straggly bits of propagation from work (hospital cases that were destined for the compost heap) so its nice a full looking now, if a bit 'eclectic'. Free plants is free plants.
Chickens got reorganised too up the top, sadly we lost another lady yesterday - now down to two. She fell asleep under the shade of the apple tree. Bless her. She's now slumbering with Scarlet up the top end of the garden.
Snagged a pallet from the ironmongers and a stob from the beach. So some good wood karma yesterday - must clean and sharpen the petrol chainsaw later, its ace. Grandad has given the other one (Electric) a service and its now tickety boo too.
Bath, tv and bed last night. All good.
Cheery I hope the birthday was ace. xxTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

You must have put your boots back on after your vacation because you are kicking butt!
I had to have a nap after reading your list.:D
Family loved the dinner. I almost messed it up though, as I had forgot to stir the rested batter. When I poured it into the searing hot pan (trying to follow Nigel here) there was a liquid of milk and egg on top and then a big blob of wet floury batter plopped in the middle. I picked up a sausage, one of which I had gently browned (Nigel) and began trying to stir the blob into the rest. Sausage was hot! Oops for my fingers:eek: I shoved the pan into my hot oven.
And low a behold, it came out beautifully puffed and yummy delish!;)
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Its pouring down and I'm not brave but I promise I'll take you a photo when it stops. This is the last one just before finished. I built up the sides with spare wood and the top got covered with planks and I put a wee 'bunker' at the front about half way up to keep the logs in.
Latterly we decided we should have just made the sides from pallets too. (DOH!)
The second one is made of four pallets one on the bottom two at the sides and has a wide pallet on the roof which I'll cover.
It will make more sense when it stops raining and I'll take a new photo.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
