Goodbye Bloater, Hello Boater.

So usually I only come back crawling to MSE after a wake-up call or something negative that spurs me into action - but not this time. Big trip went as well as could be expected and came in under budget, Job 1 has provided nothing but joy on my return to the frontline and the weight loss has been ongoing - two stone down and with a good routine in place it keeps on dropping. Knees are holding out - a few creaks to remind me they are there but nothing like the intense burning anguish of before. So why am I back? Because I need this place, it's good for my mental well-being to be able to post on here and I don't want this to be part of the feast/famine cycle that has blighted my both my weight and finances for a long time - I need to steady the ship.
The pay at the end of this month will be less than the previous one, I haven't quite fathomed out how much, but I know we'll be able to manage, so on my to-do list has to be to do the calculations, and also sort out the car insurances and resubmit a tax disc rebate I managed to do wrongly. Ebay can wait as the wolves aren't yet at the door.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Glad all is going well Mr B :T.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Welcome back Mr B. Have enjoyed reading (both) your diaries from the start but never commented.
Congratulations on the weight loss, I am gaining. Was doing a lot of diy (need to sell this house) plus weekly exercise class and trying to get my walking back to my regular 3 hours a day (never been able to jog but used to be the fastest walker on the pavement).
Had an injured leg (came on slowly) got to the point where I couldn't get up or down a ladder. After 15 weeks of physiotherapy (practicing every day at home) with the focus moving from side of my leg, to knees, to hip they referred me for a scan, only to find I have severe arthritis in my right hip (poor leg - there was space all around the bone on the x-rays and I had kept calling it a stupid leg when it wouldn't do what I wanted).
So currently in limbo awaiting a surgical consult, apparently I am not supposed to walk (only got through the physiotherapy by telling myself I would be hill-walking by the end of the year) but haven't had any input on what I can do. Borrowed 3 books from the library which all say keep active but don't do too much - still trying to work out what that is (not much).
Anyway I keep telling myself that life will be different but it can still be good (also learning to appreciate bark patterns and local architecture while missing buses - may be able to see them, no chance of catching them. I even had to let 2 go the other day whilst standing at the bus stop as I couldn't move away from the wall I was standing next to (need to be patient and wait until the hip decides to start working) let alone pick up my shopping.
So do some exercise for me - I know you like the mean streets and I would prefer to be amongst the trees (although our far from scenic canal bank can be very soothing) but we will both get there in the end, with the debt and the exercise and weight loss.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
@mothernerd - might be worth trying a chiropractor? I'm pretty cynical about alternative remedies but it's been since an appointment with one that the knees have got better and the weight's falling off....
It's been quite a few years since anyone punched me in the face but today I've developed the unmistakeable feeling of somebody having planted one on my left eye - it's feeling all tender and achy around it. Hopefully a good sleep will cure it - unless Mrs B decides to smack me in the other one tonight. Managed to talk our car insurance policies down £15 a month which is a small victory and it's been a Saturday without spending any money which is a big victory. Tomorrow is going to involve fresh air and bicycles (for the kids).2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Grrr. Not the best of weeks. Weight has hit a plateau. Probably due to the packets of crisps I have been solidly munching all week, the lack of exercise and the half-bottle of gin I sunk midweek.
Have also had various niggling annoyances: faulty Tyre Pressure Gauges, Paypal Refunds that seem to vanish and Vodafone's Psychological Torture/Online Customer Service.
Been up tidying since 4.30 as well cos I've realised that the kids have just taken over the entire downstairs of the house (the upstairs was lost years ago).
If anyone has any spare positive vibes can they please send them in my direction. Much appreciated. And/or a new set of knees. Ta.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

If you find any spare knees can you send them here please - knee op I had this summer sorted one problem out but seems to have started another.
