Delurking - just a thought have you signed up for a waitrose reward card - you can get a free coffee every day. Also John Lewis reward card- get vouchers for a free hot drink and cake once a month. Might save a few pennies

Thank you Topsyturvy - I have applied for a John Lewis card. Do you know how long it takes to come through? I didn't know about the Waitrose one so I'll look into that. :A

    I'm interested in this too,
good luck, even though I am looking for a weekday job and have a weekend job, I still would like to make money on the side, not a lot but just a little extra by opening up an online shop to sell my photography and other stuff.

You seem really dedicated and I love it,
I'm also from the alternative side of life (for a better way of putting it)

    Rock on, girl!

Hi DeafLeopard (love the name btw) thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for your support pm me when you have your shop up and running. I am not sure if there are many "alternatives" that are millionaires but I am definately not the first wannabe thats fo sure.

Mainly lunches are my weak spot so with a bit of careful planning I can cut back on that. I think I spend

Same here - my work subsidises healthy lunches where I can get a mixed salad for around £1, yet I always go for the cooked meal option of the day, which generally costs 3x as much, and probably only contains '2 of my 5 a day' if that!

I had a look at what I spent this week at work, and its close to £30 which sounds insane! Healthy salads from now on will not only be better for my health, but should save me a good £20 a week. Thats a £1k over a year, which would really boost my savings!

The only good thing I do though, is buy a new bottle of water at the start of the week, and refill it.

This is a change I am more than willing to make - its better for my health, and financial freedom.

    How are you going?

I am doing good we had a big food shop at the beginning of the week so I have been taking supplies from that. I have a bottle I take to work and refill there. The only vice now is chocolate I have to have somehting sweet at work. By day 3 I was out of it :(
That will be the next thing for me but I have started buying the 20p Chomp/Freddo bars. I need to try and be satisfied with one not three :p

Well done DireEmblem on your progress :T

Why can't you take chocolate to work? Buy those 4 pack multipacks at the supermarket for £1 on offer. :) 25p each, instead of 60-80p per bar!

You should consider buying a refillable bottle. I have a metal, camping type one bought from TKMaxx for about £4. Much better for the environment AND your pocket. Will last a lifetime!

I have been buying them from the supermarket but made an amazing discovery yesterday....Poundland! So I'll go there for my chocolate it's very cheap. The only trouble is that if I buy in bulk I will also eat in bulk :rotfl:and probably eat it all at once.....must. have . more .discipline!

Hi everyone! Today has been a NSD finally! Yesterday was meant to be one but we had a leaking ceiling in the bathroom and kitchen! Turns out it was a leaking washine in the flat above  it is still drying out but I couldnt go into the kitchen and make something as the water was coming from the electrics and had to wait for an electrician to give us the all clear.

The place stinks of damp, thankfully we are looking at flats tomorrow once I have had my dental appointment (already paid for) first thing.

I finished the Millionaire Next Door today as well. It is an interesting read based in the US. I would recommend it but I don't know how current it is. I am now taking a break and reading the books have at home :)

I have had a look into this and unbelieveably there isn't TKMaxx in Edinburgh
I'll have a look in Sports Direct or Matalan :)

Well today was a bit more successful. I was up early for my dentist appointment only to find my tooth can't be filed properly and has to be extracted

On a lighter note it has been a LSD (Low spend day) as I had to pay for my dance class this evening.

OH and I finally got to view a few flats. I must say the first one was the best but you always want to view more and they are in the lower part of our price range :) We have more viewings next week and will then make a decision.
