I am sure I asked about the unlocked phones and I am sure they were much more expensive - about £40 more on the one I asked about.
I'm inclined to agree with grumbler. So refer to post #118.
Order it online and get it sent to you. That way you can more easily test that it is unlocked and return it if it is not.
As an aside....I forgot that there is Blackberry Messenger for Android and iOS. So there is also an option for free calls to your daughter via Blackberry, in addition to VIBER.
This in case you are still unsure about the size of the virtual keyboard on the Nokia.0 -
All their phones are not locked - contract, PAYG, sim-free.
You seem to have asked about 'sim-free'.
If that is the case, how come you have to pay £20 more to swap to another network for the same phone, as my network is orange Orange Nokia at CPW £59.95, T-Mobile (which basically is the same company or so I am told) is £79.95? They said it costs £20 more to swap to a different network. The £59.95 they said was an "upgrade special offer" to stay with Orange.0 -

If you don't believe me, just order some free sim online, bring it to CPW and check if the phone works with it. It will.
It's a common knowledge that CPW/e2save/osps/mobiles.co.uk and p4u/d-a-p sell not locked phones.0 -
It is.

Do you mean they try to con people into believing they can't use any other sim in their mobile phones so they can charge more if you want to swap to another network ?0 -
I don't mean anything. I tell you the fact. Take it or leave it.0

It is just the way that it is. Do you really need to know why? You already have a full plate.
Perhaps better to keep it simple.
Just do the upgrade online via the CPW website. If you insist on going instore, you should test the phone using a SIM other than Orange to confirm that it is unlocked.
Another slight complication is that the eBay seller has run out out Micro SIMs, so you can order a normal one and get it cut down to Micro size in a shop. Worth it, as you get a £5 credit with the SIM.0 -

Yes it is worth it.
I have read that sometimes when phones are sold as "unlocked" they are branded to a particular network and using a different sim can sometimes affect functionality. That is not to say you cannot use another sim and network but just that the functionality may be affected i.e. menus, some items not be available to use. Have you heard about that ?0 -

Where did you read this? If it's branded then its almost certainly locked. CPW almost never send branded/locked phones and if they do they clearly say this.
No, but you seem to know everything better.
Tells you on eBay here :

It is not an issue in this case, if the phone if the phone is not branded in the first place.
Blackberry would work normally with any SIM too once unlocked, but it is also entirely possible to install the software of a particular network if you like things tidy.0
