Does anyone else ever feel like their meds actually make them feel worse than their actual condition?
.
Years and years and years ago, I was prescribed Prozac, when it was being hailed as the new wonder drug for depression. As a result, I had a complete breakdown! Felt worse than the worst black hole I'd ever been in! Brrrr!
Yet it works wonders for other people!
(PS. As it turned out, the depression was a side effect of something else, which was, a lot later, diagnosed and treated.)

Tea, the joys of PCOS medication.
I am on the last chance, very expensive medication (so glad we have free prescriptions in Scotland). The best medication for my condition gave me horrendous suicidal thoughts and I had to come off them. These ones make me dizzy and stupid and fat. I fall over a lot and forget words. The doctors seem to think its acceptable for the reduction in pain but I just hate it
Also, the pain has been much reduced since I quit aspartame. Not gone but reduced. Might be a co-incidence. I was horrified when I saw an advert on tv from change 4 life advocating a switch to diet drinks from sugary ones. From what I read aspartame is worse than sugar. Also I hate that we're demonising sugar now. Kids aren't fat these days because of sugar. They're fat because they never go out to play.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
LiR, would it be wrong to ask what your diagnosis is? The nettles/ pins and needles sound very much like DH, who has an unknown neuro thing that at the moment is called Motor Neurone Syndrome (it changes with the wind!) The feeling is unlikely to be a side effect of meds in his case, as all he takes is a benzodiazepine for his nystagmus.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Grr!! Major new supplier at work are proving to be even more incompetent than the people we had before (didn't think that was even possible). Just tried to apply for a job I saw yesterday and it's not even there anymore. Can't find anything else to even apply for. Hate this job (so much!) but now that redundancy is looming again am getting in a right panic.
Ok... and breathe....0 -
Good afternoon all!
My meds make me feel worse, too. I am on two meds to make other meds bearable, it's the only reason I have to take them. My sense of taste is very different, too. Strong tastes are far more powerful than they used to be.
Loving the penguins! I got my confirmation letter for Feb 12th, it is all booked now. They have 12 and are so successful with breeding them that they send the babies when grown to other preservation centres. I was reading reviews of other peoples visits and the penguins are everyone's favourites. They apparently surge from the water towards the keeper at feeding time. I may get knocked off my feet by penguins!
WaSp, BIL and errr some other people involved are currently in a meeting at Milliefleurs...
Deep breaths, tea. Today will pass. We are heading towards the end of the working day.
Code, when I started eating properly I found initially I put on weight but once my body stopped thinking it was starving it suddenly all fell off. I had to remind my body that it didn't need to store food just in case it wasn't going to get another meal.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Tea, something better will come up. Deep breaths and if you can, take some time to hide away, even if it's in the loo, until you're calmer.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

Edit: I know we are not meant to delete things any more, but is really might want to delete this, is that ok?
Edit again. Removed as suggested for my comfort. I discussed my health in no great detail but in a way that makes me feel 'naked and whingey'.0 -
Did you find everything broke in a chain, LIR? I am still puzzled about how I developed 5 conditions in a year. Prior to that I had two little weird things which was oddly high blood pressure at 17 (my lower number is high, the top number is normal which is...odd) and arthritis at 21 but nothing major. Then when one thing broke everything else followed it. I am always interested to see if other people have experienced this, I am sure that there has to be a cause for this that no one has found yet.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Well, now, yes, everything is like dominoes, And that there is not a holistic approach to health care or that my GP is not the lynch pin I wish he were is a frustration.
Initially, no. I think for example, I always had pcos, but until I put on weight with health issues, only had the dodgy periods, and now suffer the rest. If the rest of my health cleared up, or if I could drop the weight chances are I'd go back to not having such an issue with pcos.. Now I have the fibro thingy....but that's common enough I think.....but it might be more likely because my hormones are haywire, who knows?
IMO, once some thing major, like the brain, ( physical sense, not the 'mind') or the endocrine system goes, other things are likely to suffer knock on at least over time, because other bits of these remarkable things that are are bodies have to work harder or differently to 'pick up the slack' and sometimes that means they work too hard, or in a sub optimal, some times contrary way.0
