Now I was going to be the opposite to Code and say if you really have to be someone else, Jack Monroe would be a pretty useful person to be.

Pyxis, she worked for the fire service before ending up on benefits due to being a single parent and unable to make the shifts work for her. (Don't think the fire service were over helpful.) So being completely on the breadline, she started a blog on how to make decent meals on miniscule amounts of money and it all took off from there.
I keep meaning to get her book from the library but it always has a waiting list.

And in other news, I also nearly set my house of fire due to a newly developed habit of leaving gas hob on under the pans after dishing up a meal (and no psychosis to blame for it.) And my parent back from abroad ill relative visiting, saying they'll never cast aspersions on NHS infection control policies ever again. Because however bad we may think it is a times, it's a shining light compared to some other places.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I spent 6years on benefits when my children were babies, and cooked nutritious meals on next to nothing.

Why didn't I think of writing a book about it?

Eeeeek! Glad your parent is back safely, elsien and I hope your relative is better soon. Also glad that you didn't set the house on fire!

It is annoying because now I have to avoid Jack's site for a while. It will be a trigger for quite a while and it isn't safe for me to read it. This is how I ended up watching hardly anything on tv, after psychotic episodes returning to the trigger will likely cause another for months afterwards.

It is funny, though. I really wouldn't have seen that one coming.

    Hahahahahaha! I love that pic!

    Cheek!

Yes it DID exist, although it went from 0-60 in about 3hours! But I didn't have a computer anyway, as couldn't afford one!

Which is why I said I wish "I'd written a BOOK about it"! :p

    I've been Money Tipped!
was reading about your today and the confusion between realness. I wonder do you get confused about your name and your screen name?

    Is that an odd question?

You might laugh at this. Fir says he knows which smilies I am typing as I type them as I pull the smilie face, :):D. I wink a lot on screen so I must look like a have a tick. ;)

  • I do, LIR! I am also occasionally using WaSp instead of his real name! This is why it is very important for me to be honest if I write online, if my reality and what I write don't match up I could become very confused.

I do that, too! WaSp says I pull all sorts of strange faces at the screen.

  • Yes, I think I do the smilie thing too. In fact, I know I do!

Ha ha, I thought CM wanted to punch ME there for a moment (aaargh, perhaps she does!) I'm really surprised you dislike Jack, CM - I think she is lovely! And her recipes are great - the way she writes makes you feel the most basic foods will be really really delicious. I think Jack might like this thread, and be rather proud that Jack was her for a day!
