Rabbit droppings and morning dew? Sheer luxury.
(I would go on with the theme, but the only things my befuddled brain could come e upwith were guaranteed to put people off their breakfast.)
poor nights sleep due to someone's alarm going off through out the night for the 3rd night in a row, then Gitdog getting the runs and whinging at me to go out at silly o'clock. Had to get dressed and take him down the road in minus whatever. He is now happily asleep while I send dirty looks his way.
My leg was sore last night ( after a good day) so my evening stroll was only the minutes and more of a hop.
This morning I was woken very, very early my dog dog and kiwi who had each found a ribbon from some sorting and bishing I am doing and were performing some pretty impressive looking ribbon gymnastic dance. Kiwi ran through dog dog's legs and dog dog stood and turned, the ribbons flowing......and driving the dogs into a frenzy.
The cats were seriously unimpressed but while a bit annoyed to be woken to this ( they are usually excellent sleepers) I was actually finding it quite funny.0 -
Percy cat has resumed his habit of sleeping on my head. He used to do this a while ago but then preferred to snuggle up between us. The last four nights he's been back on the top of my head - while I end up pushed further and further down the bed
I quite like it... apart from when he wakes me up by grooming me :rotfl:0 -
I slept badly last night. DH was on nights and he let the dog up to keep me company but I ended up having to take him downstairs for a pee at stupid o'clock. Then when I did get some sleep, I woke up with him steadily taking up more and more space. At the moment, I'm perched on the end of the bed with dumbass dog taking up the whole thing.
The thing with Jack Monroe is that she isn't doing anything that isn't being done on the OS board for example. Also she made such a big thing about value ranges at supermarkets that they kind of caught on and the prices went up until they were discontinued on a lot of things. So now struggling mums (and dads) can't do what she did because stuff costs more - I know that's not her fault but Sainsburys isn't especially cheap.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Also, I haven't seen any of her 'recipes' that look even half-edible.0

LIR, what is sorting and bishing?
Here's Jack's original post, the one that really got attention http://agirlcalledjack.com/2012/07/30/hunger-hurts/ - and there are plenty of videos on youtube. (DON'T WATCH THEM, WaS!)
I feel about Jack the same as I feel about Martin Lewis, although I'd better whisper the latter on here, I guess! :rotfl: Successful people could always come across as smug, but in both cases they have done SUCH a lot of good that I am prepared to forgive them almost anything (even if anything needed forgiving - and I'm not yet convinced it does, in either case!)

Sorting stuff out and bishing...throwing away ( short hand for donating to relevant places, rehoming or recycling )
I am dipping my toe in the Marie kondo method of 'tidying' or keeping house. There is a thread on OS board on it. I've read the book and its a sort of a love hate thing for me.
I agree with a lot of of her ethos on appreciating what you have. I find her actual practise of it a bit wasteful. I find her smugand while her method works brilliantly for the totally urbanite /suburban singleton or totally traditional woman ( almost all clients of hers are women) . I'm not sure it works in lots of circumstances.
Her attitude to a lot of things ( like paperwork) is IMO unrealistic. However. I like other things. I like the attitude of appreciating what you have, I think its good for people to see what is good in life. She thinks things should be folded and stored vertically rather than horizontally in drawers. Having tried this yesterday I agree, while I find it harder to fold this way, it is easier to assess what is in the drawer, get stuff out and in, and seems better use of space.0 -
You have to fold things and put them away?
That in itself would be a first, let alone the direction of storage.
I do find that having clutter around makes me feel overwhelmed and fidgety, but I seem to have an aversion to systems for dealing with it. It makes me feel too regimented and rule bound even if that's not the intention. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
So the general theme of the day is.... "other people are smug" :rotfl::D. Love it!
I am being totally dense here - how do you fold things vertically??0 -
Ah, THAT's my problem in life - not having heard of bishing!!!! Explains a lot....
In other news, all the IKEA storage cupboards arrived yesterday. So now all we have to do is put them together....and....
we'll be able to walk from one side of the room to the other again!
(And apparently we need legs, after all. So I need to go to the store and buy some. Should be simple, right? A little trip to IKEA?)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
You'll be fine. As long as you're blindfolded to get through the marketplace.
So today's competition is in the former of a sweepstake.
Ladies and gentlemen, please place your bets on how many important bits JM and Mr JM will have left over once their furniture is assembled.
Edit - if you follow the instructions to the letter, the backs will end up the wrong way round . Just don't ask me how I know. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
