I think i'm going to give the 5:2 diet another crack.
I do have a handy illustrated guide to foods with all the calorie info in it, i think the fact its pictures helps as i can clearly see what portion sizes i should be aiming for. I should add i've only just this evening decided to do it. I had a pizza hut earlier
I had some horrible nightmares last night. Except they were nightmares, within nightmares. (think inception lol). In the nightmare i was trying to sleep and bad things kept happening to me and i'd wake up from the nightmare (in my dream) and have sleep paralysis and not be able to move and it was terrifyingI eventually woke up properly and had to put my lamp on before i could calm down enough to try and sleep again. No idea what has caused it.

So sorry to hear that melly, you must be so exhausted. How is the sleeping going?
Aw, MU that's scary. I have nested dreams (the Inception style dreams) a lot and they always freak me out. I hope you have a better rest tonight. How's Beau?
I have avoided aspartame for years. I used to eat just about everything containing sweeteners but my endocrinologist feels it has a very bad effect on the metabolism and thyroid.
I think I could just about manage to give up chocolate for Lent with a struggle. What I couldn't manage without is cheese. I practically live off of the stuff.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

It's all over the place averaging 2 hours think that's why this stupid cold won't go and keeps coming back bad nose is streaming, eyes are streaming am wearing a pair of fleece jammies under a duvet with a live hot water bottle pressed against my side still cold.
Really fancy my Spag bol made with stewing steak might have to do is heavy on garlic that might help.0 -
Your Spag Bol sounds yummy, Mellymoo. Do have some for me! I'd really enjoy that!
I think I might be a bit better this morning. Coughing a bit less and don't seem to feel achey, although have a headache from all the coughing!
Some Spag Bol would go down a treat!
How do you make it? Do you mince the stewing steak? Or slow cook it? I've never used stewing steak in Spag Bol before!(I just lurve spiders!)

Hope your cold is a little better today, melly.
Good morning, Pyxis! Glad to hear that you are feeling a little better!
Day 9 and I think I might live! So far there are definitely less aches and pains. So much so that while WaSp sleeps I have taken down all of the decorations apart from the tree which he will need to do. I shall now spend the day researching what decorations to put up for a Russian Christmas! I do believe it is many candles which thanks to everyone here I have!
My Russian Christmas shall involve candles, peasant foods and the day spent painting my Russian dolls, as well as the present opening we haven't got around to yet. I am thoroughly looking forward to it because hopefully we won't be ill for this one!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Or diminishing Sir Pugliets?(I just lurve spiders!)

Hahahahaha! I can't decide! There are so many different designs! I want pretty but not overly complicated because I am not exactly a world renowned artist here. The general consensus seems to be to draw the design on each doll in pencil first and then paint. morning all
I try to avoid sweeteners and don't like ds having them, however I find that is easier said than done. Most places you go to only serve sugar free versions of squash. DS likes tango, the diet version as you would expect contains sweeteners however so does the non-diet version grrr, it has both sugar and sweeteners in, if you look at non-diet versions of drinks you will find that some do still contain sweeteners!
WaS a Russian Christmas sounds great, looking forward to hearing about it. I was thinking of having a second Christmas myself as ours wasn't the best.
I am also thinking of the 5:2 diet (inspired by this thread). I don't have an issue with food but do have an element of I like to feel that I have achieved something rather than having a downer on myself all the time. By doing this I would achieve something two days a week, it will be a tough challenge for me to stick to but only having to do it for one day at a time should be ok. I am off to start a thread about it asking for food ideas.0 -
We have been taking down Christmas decorations too.
Its one of the busiest mornings I've had for a couple of weeks and I'm settling down for a rest now.
Its so sad taking all that beauty away, but so exciting to think of the spring coming, and summer, and if they didn't go away they wouldn't come out again.0 -

I think the thing that is overlooked in discussion is the potential benefits besides weight loss. I am unlikely to achieve weightloss. Like WaS I have a beggared up system and stasis has been hard to find. I found five two suited me incredibly well and my health team felt differently for me that WaS's did for her ( not surprising as we are different). It really suited me, though I didn't lose substantial amounts of weight as I could do with) I stabilised and felt better.
Infuriatingly I had a further health complication and had that related to diet ...last year? The year before? Cannot remember, year before I think, and my diet because a problem as I couldn't eat normally/normal food. Thankfully that seems to be over or at least over for now. Like many people with endocrine issues I don't deal with sugars simple carbs very well ( I have developed what is referred to charmingly as a buffalo hump and have been having tests for cushings disease) and because sugar/simple carbs seemed to be the only food I was not reactive too during the difficult dietary time this was really stressful time. The hump can also occur in people who are diabetic or pcos and eating a lot of sugar ( I have pcos certainly, but ate a low simple carb diet). It basically reveals insulin resistance in some form. Anyway, although I am not one of those who favours a no carb diet I would like to get to a state if my health allows where I can be v.low carb and absolutely no simple carbs for a while to try and get rid of this hump.i also want to return to intermittent fasting ASAP because it suits me and I think it gives me the best chance at competent longevity with my condition.
