pyxis - yes I need to get the book it looks like an interesting read. If anyone has any suggestions of something I can buy from amazon at £7ish so I can meet the minimum order I would be grateful. I really can't think of anything I need/want (well I can but not that I could buy for £7)

lostinrates - I love that dressing gown I think it looks really snugly. I own a few dressing gowns :o I wear them over clothes to keep warm.

mellymoo - love that idea of stewing steak in a spag bol I will be trying that next time I make one. I like it with mince but this sounds good as well.

Another picking your brains question folks.
Just been chatting to a neighbour who suffers from depression, and she said she could understand it if it was more clearly situational, but for the life of her she can't work out any triggers. Which got us wondering can it/does it strike out of the blue without anything specific setting it off? Well, I say out if the blue, it's not necessarily that quick, but you know what I mean.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Yes it can. In fact that used to be more or less the diagnostic for clinical depression, as opposed to reactive depression - that there wasn't any apparent reason for it :(

    iammumtoone - Russian dolls? :rotfl:

sugar free gummi bears? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: (if you don't know why I'm laughing, read the reviews! Or you might prefer a bic pen, or a bic pen for women.......)

Oh God, yes, Elsien! It can and does!
Tha's one of the reasons why people can be so unsympathetic, because they see no 'reason' for you feeling so bad!
    It's chemical imbalance/hormone imbalance/GodKnowsWhat imbalance.
Just as you can't control getting Flu, you can't control when the Black Dog strikes. You can do all sorts of mitigating things for both, ie exercise, nutrition, social contact all that stuff, but just as Flu can still hit even the healthiest person, so can Depression.

Found this on Lolcats, just had to post it as it made me hoot! :rotfl:

Iammumtoone, what about some story cubes? Dice-type games. We use similar ones in French classes, to make each of us speak about something, or describe something.
They can be good for dinner party games too.
There are some on this link, but you may find other types.

Jm - if you like those reviews try the Veet Hair removal for men.

I agree that depression can happen without any triggers. Its an illness like any other.

Sadly I think I've read all the really good reviews now. If you google funny amazon reviews you get quite a few other ones. There used to be one about nuclear fission I think, but I can't find it now
