I've just cut out sweeteners as well. Not because of side effects but because of reading that using it can fool the body into thinking it's about to get a lorry load of sugar and reacting accordingly. I'm not sure how true that actually is but it seems to make sense on an intuitive level. So I thought if my body is going to act as if it's full of sugar then it might be better on a day to day basis eating the real thing and trying to cut that down rather than just relying on substitutes. Not from a weight loss perspective, more a healthy living sort of thing.
Good that your facial pain has gone, that's not a nice one to have. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Hi all sorry been awol today I basically collapsed Still wobbly now.
Hope your all ok
Don't worry just exhaustion I think0 -
Hugs to melly. Rest!!!!!!
elsien - yes, that's why you have to avoid sweeteners (and things like diet drinks) on fast days (it IS you that's with me on the 5:2, isn't it?)
I have just discovered, today, that my sister who gives up chocolate every year for lent also gives up all sugar! For 40 days, or whatever it is!!!!!!! She is definitely odd, though - she doesn't like any drink except water. I guess that makes it easier for her as she wouldn't have the problems I have giving up coffee. (I don't like coffee without sugar, so don't drink it usually on fast days! And coffee is a really sacred morning ritual in this house, which I really really miss. It's almost the worst thing about fasting!!!!)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

Agreed. But giving up chocolate is in itself difficult enough for her, I would have thought. (She eats quite a lot of it but has such an active lifestyle that she's always been slim.)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Not me doing the fast days - I have no willpower whatsoever, no point even going there. :rotfl: I'm another one who's got lucky on the metabolism front, I've just decided that a healthier lifestyle can't hurt regardless of size.
( PS Those Lidl double choc chip cookies just jump into the basket of their own accord. Sneaky little beggars)
Mellymoo - any family members who can take a bit of the load off you for a bit while you recuperate? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
